“Once you concede the point that guns are the problem, its only a matter of time.”
Unfortunately, this does concede the point that an inanimate object is a problem. This won’t stop the grabbers only inspire them toward the next cave.

"pre-1986 machine gun"
What happened in '86 that prompted this rule?

Yes, what is next? First amnesty for dreamers, and who else? Same thing with gun control. Neither is a good idea.
Id like to see him get his campaign promises done.

So who are you going to vote for it 2020? The Democrat nominee, a waste vote (siphon off entity), or stay home and let he Democrat win?
You do realize that person will never give lip service to even one thing you support.
The SCOTUS alone is reason enough to vote for Trump, even if you skip the 100s of others.

Trump could ban Bandolier’s and he would still have had more gun regulation then the Democrats in 2009

Over bump stocks?
You know damned well it doesn't end there.
Devices that increase rate of fire will end up being outlawed. That will include binary triggers, or match grade triggers with lighter pulls, and that's just the things we can identify.
You cannot give them anything. You must only take from them, and give nothing.

He also stated he supported additional restrictions on "firing aids" whatever that is.

While in theory I have no problem with banning these things BUT the problem becomes this is the beginning point where the left now begins the debate. We always give up at the beginning but never consider that once you establish your opening bid, the bidding goes higher.

New manufacture of fully-automatic (Class III) firearms were prohibited via an amendment added to a bill intended to protect the firearms industry. Charles Rangel ran it through on a voice vote - there’s a YouTube video of the vote. It’s one of the reasons why I wish we had a line-item veto.

Trump needs to not cave on gun control if he wants to win and if he wants my vote.
Like I said, it’s too early to make any pronouncements. There is a very good chance this is just like his rope a dope with DACA. He offered to amnesty 1.8 million dreamers. We see how that bit of political theater turned out, he made the dems look like complete jackasses while giving them nothing.
If this is more of the same, good on Trump. If not, then DJT may have just had his read my lips moment.
Time will tell.

How can you “rope a dope” by ordering the ATF to alter the law by decree?
Who is the rope? Who is the dope?
This is a cave ONLY
