Not to say the judge has no blame, but he'd be the last one to know or suspect the application was hinky. The FISC was USED. The system and history facilitates that. There isn't any oversight, everything is classified and secret.

Everything I have seen or heard indicates that the FISC is just a rubber-stamp process. Supposedly, 99.98% of the applications are approved. If it is true that the initial FISA application to monitor Page in July was turned down, then that in and of itself, shows how flimsy the case was and that it took the dossier to get approval.

Dan Coats put out the 99 page study that alleged widespread abuse of the FISA process. Yet, it was reauthorized for another six years with some slight modifications.

The excuse of the day is Page was being warned since 2003, but that does not give them a right to take his privacy away. Bet nearly everyone who works with the Russians are warned in some fashion. They are painting his as a spy for the Russians just like the Sluts and Nuts defense requires.

This thing is so vast it has links to almost everything or anything you can imagine. This is what happens when a corrupt regime gets caught. Just one of the reasons why the FBI,Rosenstein, threatened Nunes if he released the memo.
By the way Nunes is my new hero.
this guy is fearless just what we need as the next Speaker or special aid to potus.
Here’s some bio on him:

Beautiful, alright, but a PITA to farmers and crops:

“Henbit is native to Europe and Asia but can be found throughout the United States. It is common in crop fields, roadsides, pastures, and lawns throughout the Deep South. This weed usually emerges in early-fall and persists through late spring. Henbit is problematic in most spring-seeded crops such as cotton, corn, rice and soybean. Research has shown that henbit is an overwintering host of both twelve-spotted spider mites and soybean cyst nematodes. Henbit can be controlled in the fall with residual herbicides that minimize emergence through the winter. Spring-emerged henbit can be relatively difficult to control, depending on herbicide selection and growth stage of the weed. “

Closeup:

It isn't poisonous, at least. It's called Henbit because chickens love it and will peck it when there's nothing else to eat in the winter/early spring. It's blossoming is a sure sign of Spring around these parts. Better than the Weather Channel or some Yankee woodchuck!

Wasn’t Swalwell on Tucker the other night saying that the FISA judges were aware of Steele’s bias when the dossier was presented? Over on Twitter, Navy Jack has been promoting the same “fact” as he attempts to downplay the significance of Numes’s memo.

I just thought of a new catchy song. American Liberals stay away from me. American Liberals honey let me be. Don’t come knocking at my front door. Don’t want to see your face no more. I got more important things to do. Don’t want to spend my time getting old with you. Now liberals please stay away.
American Liberals listen to what I say..... Can’t get this song out of my mind!

The FBI was probably monitoring all along. It needed cover for its unconstitutional warrantless surveillance.

I agree. They needed to cover their tracks despite the widespread assumption that Hillary would win. There are still some patriots in the FBI and DOJ who could blow the whistle on what was going on. I am not one of those who believe that it was just a handful of people in the FBI who were behind this. There had to be plenty more in the FBI who aided and abetted this effort to exonerate Hillary and destroy Trump.

Unmasking is the undoing of minimization. It is an end-run around the terms and conditions of the warrant. Unmasking is totally within the power of the executive, and can be done with NO oversight. No judge reviews, and of course the legislature is out of the fact gathering loop.

The data should be there to determine who did the unmasking, the targets, and the number. And whether the Clinton campaign was kept abreast of what they were finding. This is the path that leads to Obama and his administration. It is the most explosive issue of all politically.

Dems. are fighting for survival. Yesterday there was a report they have no money, are in deep debt in the DNC. Liberals must not be raising money, they think hating Trump is enough to win.

"What made the DNC file for a FISA in October, a month before the election?"

As others suggested above, they were perhaps trying to retroactively cover prior illegal surveillance. There was no information that Trump was going to win at that point. The conversion of spying on the candidate to spying on the President-elect took place seemlessly, and was part of a rather simple effort to push a Trump-Russia narrative before and after the election.

Was it because of stupid John Podesta having “password” as, ahem, a password?

It obviously took little effort to grab emails from the DNC and Podesta. The idea that it required military grade Russian hacking is a fake narrative. But I don't think there was any other relation to the Trump-Russia thing, other than this was another blame it all on Russia.

Great question, my guess is there is so much jeopardy for those involved in this entire mess it will take forever to sort it all out.

Yup.

We had the horse, we had the wagon, we had the hitch and the gear.

Now, with the Memo, we have the actual picture of the guy hitching up the horse to the wagon.

I think Gowdy’s playing the media is all. It’s not his job to indict anyone, just show the facts.

I’d say this, if any of these rascals are indicted (and I pray they will—this level of criminality CANNOT go unpunished IF Justice is to prevail), I believe Gowdy would be fine with that.

Wallace and Juan just play the devil’s advocate, even if it is outrageous and stupid. Why say something opposite, when it is foolish? They both sound cranky and sour, like I do before a cup of coffee.

-- According to Judge Pirro you have to give mitigating evidence since there is no defense attorney ... --

Well she's mixing criminal law with FISA in a way that does not work. There is no defense in FISA. FISA is a search for foreign intelligence, not crimes. There is no such thing as "exculpatory evidence" that must be give to the defendant and the judge. There isn't even a defendant.

“Now I don’t have to bother watching Deface The Nation:”

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/transcript-rep-trey-gowdy-on-face-the-nation-feb-4-2018/

I just read the transcript.
Gowdy comes across as a milquetoast swamp apologist there.
I *hope* that’s just to put his targets off their guard.
But it was enough to worry me...
