A Staten Island elementary school scrapped its traditional father-daughter dance this coming Friday because of the Department of Education’s new gender guidelines.
The DOE ordered schools to “eliminate” any “gender-based” practices like the dance in a March 2017 policy update unless they serve a “clear” educational purpose.
The PS 65 shindig, set for Feb. 9, was abruptly postponed until next month after the school’s PTA realized the dance would run afoul of the rules.
“Until we understand what we are legally permitted to do, we need to table this event,” PTA president Toni Bennett wrote to a private school-parents group on Facebook.
Some parents were hopping mad at what they saw as political correctness intruding on a quaint tradition, now in its third year.

Some boys might say they were girls. And a mother might say she was daddy.
We got rid of Obama to rid ourselves of this BS. Why must we put up with this?
I’m pretty sure they could’ve gone ahead and held the dance.
I feel bad for kids without fathers. It’s not their fault.
But I also feel bad for kids without athletic ability. Does that mean we shouldn’t have sports teams because some kids are left out?
How about no spelling bees? Some kids are bad spellers, you know.
We all have to play the hand we’re dealt. Forcing someone else to suffer because you’ve been dealt a bad hand is not the way to play it.

You never know in New York, maybe not.
The sooner we kill off public schools the better off we’ll be.
Outlaw teacher unions and jail their leadership.
These parents should just have their own dance independent of the school.

If it had been a father-son dance there would have been no problem. They could even say it was a Democratic party shindig!
