Adulthood does not begin until 24, scientists have concluded because young people are continuing their education for longer and delaying marriage and parenthood.
The traditional definition for adolescence is currently between and the ages of 10 and 19, which marked the beginnings of puberty and the perceived end of biological growth.
But, writing in the Lancet Child & Adolescent Health, scientists from the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne argue the timings needs to be changed.
They point to the fact that the brain continues to mature beyond the age of 20, and many people’s wisdom teeth do not come through until the age of 25.
And people are also getting married and having children later, with the average man entering their first marriage aged 32.5 and women 30.6, an increase of eight years since the 1970s.

Proof positive you can find a scientist to say just about anything these days.
Fine. Lift the voting age to 25.
I am not saying the notion of people maturing at a later age is silly, I am saying that the notion of 'scientists saying so' is patently ridiculous, and it's ridiculous that every headline these days seems to be a statement of fact followed by a comma, followed by 'study finds' or 'scientists say.'
But I am not tooling on the post or poster, say scientists.

I like that. They shouldn't be having sex until 24 either. Anyone having sex with someone under the age of 24 is guilty of statutory rape.

List drinking, driving, toking and sex consenting ages to there too. Stan Lee has gotten lots wrong, but his adage, “With great power comes great responsibility” is true even without the ‘greats.’ If you can’t accept and handle the responsibility you shouldn’t have the power. If, on the other hand, they accept adult responsibility earlier by applying for admission into the military and being accepted into it (no peace corps, etc. substitutes) grant the power then. And remove the power from those who willfully deny the responsibility at latter ages.
At age 24, one could be an army veteran and still see the pediatrician.

Bullsh**-legal adulthood is 18-but upbringing and experience makes “real” adulthood variable. I graduated, assumed adult responsibilities at 16, eloped, had a cub and started college by 17-and that was not unusual for ranch kids, either-most of the guys I knew were in the military at 18...
There were no snowflakes then, either-they would have been unable to survive...
No kidding.
I was just at my oldest granddaughter’s 18 birthday, where just as vividly I remembered being at her first, watchin her pound away at a smash cake. (Dang, where did the time go )
She graduates H.S. this June and I think her folks did a a great job preparing her to be on her own.
We shall see.
B.S.! So how do you explain democrats and liberals, for them adulthood never really begins. You can't lay a number to fit everyone. For conservatives, adulthood starts much earlier than with liberals, maybe 16 for conservatives; for liberals perhaps 40.
