Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen confirmed Tuesday that her department has asked federal prosecutors to see if they can lodge criminal charges against sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with federal deportation efforts.
“The Department of Justice is reviewing what avenues may be available,” Ms. Nielsen told the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Her confirmation came after California’s new sanctuary law went into effect Jan. 1, severely restricting cooperation the state or any of its localities could offer.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan says those policies put his officers and local communities at more risk because they have to arrest illegal immigrants out in the community.
Mr. Homan told The Washington Times last July that he wanted to see local officials charged as complicit in human smuggling if they shielded illegal immigrants through sanctuary policies.

I agree......... arrest the Governors that made some states Sanctuary states. Like our Oregon Governor, Kate Brown. She needs to go! PLEASE!

Good question? The law is clear but they go threaten to cut off federal funds when clearly they have much more power in the existing law.
I can't quote any law for this one but I heard Rush say one time that any politician or agency that allowed an illegal to stay was liable for any crime or damage that illegal committed. That was enacted when they made some deal with Clinton to get something he wanted passed. You would think that the current congress as a whole, has no clue what laws they pass or why.
They love to hide behind court decisions to avoid doing something they don't want to be held accountable for. Or something they secretly want but allow the courts to take the blame for.
They need to get the law declared unconstitutional. This is how the south defied the feds. But no arrests will happen. An Obama or Clinton judicial appointee will prevent it.
Put this together with his Dec. 21 Executive Order on Human Smuggling, and we could see about half of the Democrat party in Gitmo or hanged.
Still not tired of winning.

They can’t possibly know what laws they pass or have passed or why. There are too many laws to keep track of and they don’t pay enough attention to what they are doing even if they could remember all the laws.
If they were smart enough to make an equivalent or better living some other way they would not be politicians.
