GOP senator denies Trump made ‘sh*thole’ comment

“I’m telling you he did not use that word, George. And I’m telling you it’s a gross misrepresentation. How many times do you want me to say that?” Sen. David Perdue told host George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday.

“The gross misrepresentation was that language was used in there that was not used and also that the tone of that meeting was not contributory and not constructive,” he said.

Perdue, a Georgia Republican, attended the meeting last Thursday with other GOP and Democratic lawmakers seeking to hammer out a deal on immigration when Trump reportedly wondered out loud why the US accepts immigrants from “shithole countries,” referring to Africa, Haiti and El Salvador.

The Washington Post reported on the remarks later Thursday and Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin confirmed the president’s use of the language the next day.

Sen. Tom Cotton, another attendee, said he didn’t hear what Durbin claims and questioned the Illinois lawmaker’s motivation.

“I certainly didn’t hear what Sen. Durbin has said repeatedly. Sen. Durbin has a history of misrepresenting what happens in White House meetings, though. So perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised by that,” Cotton said on CBS’ “Face The Nation.”

Ben Marter, a spokesman for Durbin, shot back at Perdue’s comments and said the issue comes down to credibility.

“Senator Durbin has it. Senator Perdue does not. Ask anyone who’s dealt with both,” he wrote on Twitter.

I recall the pride that Dirty Harry had as he spoke of how effective his lie about Romney not having paid taxes was.

I'd be willing to bet that Dick Turbin (Rat-Cabrini Green) is lying.

If it walks like a duck...

This whole thing is just so over-the-top stupid. So what if he used that word? They act like it is the “worst thing ever”. Really? Maybe we should just go and ask Bill Clinton if anything worse has ever gone on in the White House.

I live in the Detroit area. The downtown is on a massive comeback but are parts of the city a sh*thole? People from all over call Detroit a sh*thole. Should I be offended? No, because they’re right. Here’s some pictures from zip-code 48204, also responsible for the majority of the crime in the State.

Yes, it is a sh*thole.

"Trump reportedly wondered out loud why the US accepts immigrants from “shithole countries,” referring to Africa, Haiti and El Salvador. "

He should have added Russia.

That’s what’s best about Trump, he says what everyone else is thinking. Libs think the same thing, they just won’t admit it.

I have a relative who is a charity worker and has been to Haiti several times, prior to and after the hurricanes. She said you really couldn’t tell any difference because it’s always a shithole.

I can imagine it like this:

Perdue: President Trump did not use that word. He didn't say that. He never said that. I was there and didn't hear him say that. It didn't happen.

George: So Senator, after he said that....

Seems there are two very different and I compatible thought patterns.

1). Take responsibility for yourself and your family. Provide for your needs, and once you are safe, and your family is safe; go out and help others.

2). Let someone else do everything. Prey upon those who seek to help others, and take whatever you want, using any means you feel will serve you.

Haiti falls under group #2. So do many immigrants, illegals, minorities and a bulk of those infesting our once great cities.

Dick Durbin is my senator, unfortunately, and has a long history of being a despicable liar.

That pretty much matches my perception of the place.

I’ve not been there, but all the photos I’ve ever seen of the place depict terrible poverty and terrible conditions.

I’m not sure there are enough decent people there to turn things around.

It would seem they could develop some sort of an economy that would raise the standard of living there.

A stupid dim made up a fake quote that millions are thinking in their own minds and starts a conversation about the question that the fake quote asks.
Why ARE we bringing in these people?

More time spent on what Trump allegedly says than what he does. I thank Trump for my increased IRA account balance.

I think what you addressed there is true in a number of places we help around the world.

It seems to be the reason why no matter how many billions we pump in, the next day we’re faced with having to pump in more billions.

It seems we’re always handing out fish, but never teaching folks to fish. At some point, these folks must take responsibility and fend for themselves.

We shouldn’t be faced with having to pump out tens of billions around the world each year on into perpetuity.

It seems supporting them to build decent small dwellings, then giving them seed chickens, hogs, and cattle could almost immediately put them on a footing for fending for themselves.

I know water is a problem, but that is something that can be taken care of. A large water collection system, could be developed, with cisterns and filtration. If the locals could develop something to sell, they could purchase filters and things the community needed. A community outhouse could be built, to keep down infectious materials from being exposed.

It seems these little communities could be made self-sustaining rather easily if we/they put minds to it.

I know there are issues with this, but this core theory could be added to, and a plan developed to get things on track over there.

We’ve been helping these places for decades. Why are we still having to do it?

After what he said about our U.S. Marines I'd like to beat him until there was nothing left to beat on. And I'm not even a Marine.
