Trey Gowdy Resigns as member of Ethics Committee
Congressional Record ^ | 1-10-18

Posted on 01/12/2018 6:45:23 PM PST by Revel

Hon. Paul D. Ryan, Speaker, House of Representatives, Washington, DC. Dear Speaker Ryan: Thank you for the privilege of serving for the past 5 years on the House Ethics Committee. While few, if any, members seek this assignment, the collegiality of the members coupled with the seriousness of the jurisdiction have made it an experience I will treasure.

When I became Chairperson of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform I knew I would not be able to keep all other committee assignments to include Judiciary, Intelligence and Ethics. Four committee assignments, including a Chairmanship, is a challenging workload. I was happy to finish out the calendar year and conclude some matters then pending before the Committee. Accordingly, I tender my resignation from the House Ethics Committee pending your designation of a replacement.

Thank you again for this opportunity and thank you to my colleagues on the Committee for their hard work and friendship. Sincerely, Trey Gowdy,

Member of Congress.

The SPEAKER pro tempore. Without objection, the resignation is accepted.

There was no objection.

One of the few reasons that make sense.

‘Watch Trey Gowdy DESTROY Trey Gowdy.’

You know, that’s downright funny as hell. Thanks!

All it would take to make the House of Representatives ethical would be to, uh, replace all of Congress with robots. Even sex robots would be an improvement, and they don’t have any qualms about engaging in sex with anyone who asks, or who has a big enough credit line on their Visa card to call all the shots.

Here’s something that’s not really a sidebar:

This conman assured us Comey was a man of character and Mueller was a quintessential straight arrow... while they set up the president with a phony dossier.

Bump!

Ethics....Hmm sounds sort of like options...Would love to know his investments.

Since media and elites were constantly clamoring for Trump to release tax returns, I think it would be quite interesting to look at the Swamp Creatures’ tax returns and investments ...just what do these Swamp creatures own when they begin and what do they end up with when they leave?

Btw...Ryan’s comments were, “This is not helpful, not productive”

Why doesn’t Ryan just switch parties. Unbelievable.

With that sort of investment track record, Goldman Sachs will want to hire him when he retires.

What he accomplished is always in the eye of the beholder, depending on your expectations versus his authority for accomplishing anything.

Many around here thought Trey could jail people even though Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch laughed at congressional referrals for prosecution. LOL!

Five empty years from the man with the bad hair cut and the big mouth. He has accomplished exactly nothing - actually less than nothing. Since he took over where maybe someone else might have produced a tangible result we got zippo from him.

He never had the unilateral power to do anything so he kept digging up dirt that should have been aggressively addressed

Yep.

This is vapors over nothing. Congressmen are limited as to the number of committees, subcommittees, and chairmanships. Some spots are competitive, and a senior or more privileged member may bump someone off a post. The member who leaves may be doing a favor for someone lower in seniority. It’s real gamesmanship so without knowing more details, it may be just as Gowdy describes.

Yes— Gowdy’s resignation is connected to what happened to Nunes.

The IG report on DOJ comes out Monday. Gowdy is chair of the Oversight and Govt. Reform Comm.— front and center in the revealing report. Apparently no one here on FR of the armchair “experts” understands the limitations of a congressman, as regards security clearance. Mr. Trump has put Gowdy in a very powerful position, and Gowdy has had a bellyfull of the idiotic moron Adam Schiff (who brought the ethics charges against Nunes simply as a way to protect his a@@ pilot flaming queer pencil neck self from the very serious leaking he has been doing. Never forget this. A very good reason to leave the useless bicameral ethics committee, to which Al “red diaper doper baby” Franken RAN to bury his own criminal behaviour. Note that the ethics committee itself has limitations on security clearance to take action. But NOT the IG.) Crap is about to hit the fan, and Gowdy is just the person to voice the traditionalist Constitutionalist outrage in an erudite cutting disgusting manner.
My suggestion to all the wet behind the ears FR (and the evident trolls here, who have all been id’d to long time members over the years)— is to shut the hell up. Nunes and Gowdy are team members, and Gowdy was a skilled federal prosecutor, and working with Grassley et al in ways to put the hurt on these criminal democrats.
