Attorney General Jeff Sessionss job security is in question after taking withering fire from fellow Republicans this week, including from two prominent House conservatives who called on him to resign.
Two leaders of the House Freedom Caucus, Reps. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), called on Sessions to step aside in an op-ed Friday, charging he has lost control of the Department of Justice and the FBI.
Sessions has also come under criticism from Republicans and Democrats alike for his decision to rescind the Obama-era Cole memo, which gave states the space to legalize marijuana without fear of federal interference.
By withdrawing the memo, Sessions gave federal prosecutors more leeway to pursue cases against the legal marijuana industry, which is expanding rapidly in several states.
Sen. Cory Gardner (R), whose home state of Colorado is host to a booming legal cannabis industry, ripped Sessions on the Senate floor Thursday and accused him of breaking a personal pledge not to change the Obama-era policy.

His mild mannered demeanor does not mean he is Mr. Milquetoste.
You have no idea what is going on the behind the scenes. Anyone who thinks AG Sessions is a do-nothing must think President Trump is stupid.
Wrong on both counts.
Dispassionately, but with dispatch.
MJ users are 100% unable to see any downside whatsoever. From a thread about this topic today, see this incredibly revealing comment quoted in my response to it:

A career politician becomes a deep state AG
Never saw the movie, never had the interest.
I know lots of people who smoke marijuana.
You just can’t criticize the stuff.
Sessions should have resigned when he decided to recuse himself from the Russia probe. He has been a waste of an Attorney General.
A legislator and an administrator are 2 seperate skill sets.
As a Senator, you have to learn how to build through consensus, as AG you have to direct people into action.
My point is that marijuana has its own built-in Trojan horse that controls the mind of users.
In fact, it not only controls the mind, it controls the spirit. (The word spirit doesn’t have to be religious—here I’m equating spirit with attitude.)
His mild mannered demeanor does not mean he is Mr. Milquetoste.
I do not refer to his milquetoastedness (word?)
You have no idea what is going on the behind the scenes. Anyone who thinks AG Sessions is a do-nothing must think President Trump is stupid.
Those two sentences have no basis and foundation to each other.
I do not know what is going on behind the scenes, but I can see what has been going on in front of the scenes for a year, and he simply has not produced. I have fired numerous people for less performance.
I am a fair judge of humanity, and sessions appears lightweight.
Wrong on both counts
Sentiments are a powerful driving force, and will mold judgements easily.
Step back, look at it totally disconnected, and tell me, what has the AG done that supports Trump's agenda?
Would you hire him to be your pit bull?
Stupid post.
I think he is simply out of his league. Honest, NOT a deep stater at all. Just not able to grasp the situation and ACT in a timely manner.
xactly. He is excellent for the former, not so much for the latter.
Sessions needs to go in and snag the marijuana money, including the tax receipts. Don’t worry about the rest of the story, just snag the cash. That is how you make the liberals squeal without having any negative vote impact.
I know people who smoke and I don't see any difference in their lives. I don't smoke myself. It's not for me. But I have seen cancer patients wasting away from vomiting/nausea and MJ worked for them when the expensive anti-nausea medicine did not.
I’m talking about recreational users, not cancer patients.
They start to believe marijuana is some sort of magical solutions to everything. But if you try to point out its problems, they act like you’re committing some kind of blasphemy.
Marijuana causes lung cancer, anxiety, paranoia, depression, anger, episodes of rage, withdrawal from relationship with husband or wife, severe loss of motivation leading to lifelong loss of a normal career, and many other problems.
For recreational users, marijuana is a religion. They are slaves to it.
“People from the obama administration have to go to prison by the truckload or our nation is doomed.”
Good post.
Now did I know without first checking, that you would be a Non-Contributor to the Free Republic. I must be psychic.
“Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) sent a letter to Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray Friday demanding they investigate if Christopher Steele lied to federal authorities.”
This will make for a great test, watch Sessions claim “I don’t see the evidence”.
