The National Transportation Safety Board investigating the accident, which killed three people and injured more than 50 others, is still trying to determine the probable cause and prevent such accidents in the future.
It appears that there were two people in the lead locomotive control cab of the train who were both injured and hospitalized: an instructor engineer, and another engineer who was learning the territory and qualifying to operate the train along the route.

The explanation that the route didn't look the same in the day as at night doesn't hold water. There were aware that there was a 30 mph zone so many minutes or miles from the start. Also, in daylight, you'd be able to see that the track curved ahead.
No kidding!! Where the HELL are the INVESTIGATION JOURNALISTS??? Las Vegas shooting, this train wreck and the DOSSIER??? ALL out there just waiting for SOMEONE to find the TRUTH!

The train was 30 minutes late leaving the station for the ‘Inaugural Run’. The train was also behind schedule ‘during’ the run. The new route was supposed to save ‘minutes’. It was failing to show that considering all the MONEY SPENT.
It is my opinion that someone high up in AMTRAK or a politician ordered them to try and make up the time OR ELSE.
That is why you are not being told what happened.
Right after this happened, hate filled leftists took to social media blaming President Trump. Sickening.
Somebody is due a manslaughter charge.

I wonder if the junior engineer was doing more than just learning how to “operate the engine.”
Actually if they’d loaded a free geofencing application to their phones it would have given them additional warning.
PTC sounds great but it should cost a fraction of what they’re saying it costs, which is the excuse for why it’s not deployed.
I don’t recall hearing about an airline that was allowed to fly hundreds of passengers even though transponders are expensive.

The cellphone activity was already checked and they weren’t using their cellphones.
SOMEONE, with tons of money invested in this debacle (saving 14 minutes) did not want to LOSE. The train was behind schedule before even leaving the station, and if it had followed the posted speeds, would not make it to the end in a ‘quicker’ time that the old route.
SOMEONE told the engineers they better find a way to get there ‘on time’, OR ELSE.
That is why we are not being told the truth. They can’t admit it and I bet the engineers have been instructed to keep their mouths shut, OR ELSE.
What I got from the article was that they did not realize where they were until it was too late. Takes a long time to stop a train. But the whole thing is ridiculous. How could they not know where they were? You don’t need a multimillion dollar safety system to determine that. Google Maps ought to be enough.
This has nothing to do with affirmative action or race or homosexuality or cell phones.
SOMEONE told the engineers to ignore the speed limit and GET TO THE STATION ON TIME (because they were already behind schedule and would not make it in the 'prescribed' time).
That is why there are no names, no pictures, and no info on what they have to say about it.
It was a homosexual version of The World According To Garp.
