President Trump became the first national leader to call for protecting the U.S electric and communications grid against an electromagnetic attack like one practiced in North Korea.
Deep in his new national security strategy released this week, he made good on a campaign promise to move quickly to make the fixes that proponents have long called for.
Two of the chief advocates, William R. Graham and Peter Vincent Pry, executives of the nation’s first Congressional EMP Commission, said in a statement, “President Trump understands, even if everyone in his administration does not, that ‘strategic stability’ and ‘longstanding strategic relationships with Russia or China’ are best maintained — not by a policy of mutual vulnerability — but by a policy of ‘Peace Through Strength.’ Protecting the nation from all missile threats and EMP should be the cornerstone of a ‘Peace Through Strength’ policy.”

I’ve been waiting for a president or governor to promote this goal ever since 9/11.
Trump just keeps addressing new things. He isn’t just a “get elected and coast” type of guy.
Trump is also Making the Presidency Great Again.

This is a much more real and immediate threat to our national security than globull climate change. President Trump has the priorities right.
I don’t claim to be an expert, but my understanding is that EMPs are like lightening strikes - if you can give the current an easy path to ground, the current will not do much damage. If you trap the huge, induced, currents, on the grid, they will force their way to ground, destroying whatever is in their way - pretty much crippling the country and killing off 90% of our population, based on published studies.
It’s really no different than grounding appliances in your house. If lightening hits, and the current has an easy way to ground (i.e., the earth around your house), the current will avoid the insanely expensive ‘controller cards’ that are now required for your ‘modern’ washing machine to work. But if you don’t provide the easy path to ground, the current will still find it’s way to ground, but that ‘controller card’ of your ‘modern’ washing machine will be toasted as the current now passes through it.
She and Fred Upton (Uncle of Kate upton) seemed to do everything in their power to prevent bolstering the grid.
Maybe "oil drilling leases" == "agreement on EMP"?

Yea, I know about the Carrington Event, including the one (in the past year or two) that happened to not head in our direction, but would have put us several million years behind the Flintstones.
Regarding the details of a nuclear EMP...I don’t know much about it them - but I suspect that we can harden against them without much trouble - provided we can get past thinking that only Art Bell considers such a strike as credible.
I was thinking the same.
I recently bought one of the last non-electronic cloths washers. Fed regulations say all mfg after Dec 31 must be electronic controls. The washer replaced an expensive electronic washer which died months after the extended warranty. Voltage spikes over the years killed it along with a an electronic water ionizer and numerous LED bulbs.
Save up a few incandescent bulbs in case an EMP fries your LEDs.
These two slimeballs are deep state swamp dwelling bottom feeders.
EMP is a serious subject that deserves the best technical minds looking at problems and solutions, not scaremongering to line your own pocket from consulting contracts.
Actually Art Bell has left the show.
Quite a while ago now. His successor George Noory, however, is completely on bass about this topic.
He is one of the only ones. And unlike your reference to Art Bell, Noory is 100% very deliberate about the issue. Intelligent, and very deliberate.
Trump is completely right to pay attention to this.
Trump is right.
Better both than just talking or neither.
And Trump has acted rather than talk about it.
