R.I. (WPRI) Rhode Island is now just 157 residents away from losing one of its two seats in the U.S. House, which would give the state a single vote there for the first time since George Washington was president, according to an analysis of newly released population data.
Kimball Brace, the reapportionment expert who has been involved in drawing legislative and congressional districts in Rhode Island since the early 1980s, ran the numbers Wednesday after the U.S. Census Bureau announced Rhode Island had added about 2,000 residents between July 2016 and July 2017.

I think the official name of it is bigger than the state. The official name is ‘State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantation’
MN is cold for most of the year.
Or, even better, apportion house districts based on number of gun owners only.
Plantations

Quick, have another Great White concert!
Harding County NM is twice the size of RI and has 630 residents.
They won't lose a Dem seat. They will move to a red state in the south and bring their liberalism and their votes with them.
Why should illegals get representation anyway? Heads can explode and they should.
Wait until Peter Griffin takes his Family and moves to Canada.
“Harding County NM is twice the size of RI and has 630 residents.”

That just boggles my mind——I’ve always lived in densely populated areas.
I guess the Harding County folks can’t just pop out to the 7-11 store for milk late at night.:-)

Which state is closest to picking up one seat?
Merge it with Massachusetts so it loses 2 senate seats, as well.
Not if Trump gets serious about expelling illegals.
When these blue states send us their people, they arent sending their best. The are sending Democrats.
431st seat: CA 53
432nd seat: OH 16
433rd seat: AL 7
434th seat: CO 8
435th seat: RI 2
436th seat: NY 27
437th seat: MN 8
438th seat: MT 2
439th seat: WV 3
440th seat: AZ 10
?????
Translation, please!
Deport illegals in CA at a rate such that they lose several seats.
Look up “Method of Equal Proportions.”
This will tell you how seats are allocated.
Under the Census Bureau’s current estimates, Rhode Island (2nd seat) would indeed receive the 435th and final seat in the Congresses of the 2020’s.
New York’s 27th seat would be the next seat, if the House were expanded to 436. Then Minnesota’s 8th seat (so Minnesota will lose a seat unless their population grows quicker than NY and RI in the next 2 yr and 4 mo. After that comes Montana’s 2nd seat - so Montana is close to getting a 2nd seat. Whether they can pass MN, NY, and RI before the next census is another story.
The next on the list is WV 3 - so yes, WV is close to losing yet another seat. After that comes AZ 10 which if it passed WV, MT, MN, NY, and RI would gain a seat.
