By what power does Erdogan think the recognized capital of a country can be denied of what any country with relations with that capital has - the other country’s embassy.
U.S. law and Presidents have long recognized Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel and U.S. law for 22 years has mandated the U.S. embassy to Israel be moved to its capital.
Erdogan is seeking a “Muslim popular vote” to declare him the new “Caliph”, and using geopolitical campaigns to try and reach that ego-trip-goal for himself.
Go ahead, we are a sovereign state.
The UN has no control over who we do or don’t recognize.
So, it’s fake?
I thought it was up to Israel to decide where is their capital. And we can put our embassy wherever we damned well please. Turkey can get stuffed.

So this idiot is trying to get the U.N. to tell the U.S. that the U.S. can’t recognize Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel, even though Jerusalem IS the Official Capital of Israel?
So, does that mean that I can go to the U.N. and get them to designate a different city, other than Caligula on the Colorado (aka Austin, TX) as the Capital of Texas?!? I figure if we could get our legislatures out of that Liberal Nutjob Town, we might, MIGHT be able to get some real Conservative stuff done!! Of course, we would have to move it to something like Odessa or Midlothian or such...not Houston or Dallas - NO!!!
The Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 is a public law of the United States passed by the 104th Congress on October 23, 1995.
Jerusalem was already recognized as the capital long ago by U.S., Trump is just finally moving our embassy. Erdogen is a fool if he thinks the UN can tell us where we can put our embassy. He’s a fool anyway for many reasons.
So let it be written, so let it be done.
Israel is host country and invited move. We put our embassy where we choose consistent with their wish. I fail to see where the UN has a voice in this move. Turkey is becoming a big PIA of late.
He’s working on retaking it.
