I think there’s some truth to that. If this were not a belief, the kids could have this sort of education taught at the same time heterosexual materials were explained years later.

It is the human condition for children from the earliest ages to think they are mature, and fully understanding of life’s topics.

Take a look at the 1.5 year old who is looking down on the new baby in the family. He instantly identifies with the adults rather than the new baby.

At 1.5 years of age, he thinks he’s no longer a baby himself. While that is technically true, he is in no way prepared to take care of himself. In many/most cases he isn’t even potty trained yet. He is still on the cusp of being a baby himself.

Progress forward a couple of years. The now 3.5 year old child thinks they should be given the same privileges as the 6 year old child in the family. That isn’t realistic, but that is the 3.5 year old child’s view of things.

This progresses at every stage of child development, the quest to be treated more like an adult than the child they were last birthday.

Kids think they should be driving at 12. They think they should be able to date at 13. They think they should be able to stay out all night at 15. They think they should be seen as an adult at 16.

No 18 year sees a 15 year old and thinks adult. No 22 year old looks at an 18 year old and sees an adult. No 30 year old sees a 22 year old as a sees an adult.

This is something children and young adults have to deal with. It’s something their parents have to deal with also.

Young adults at 30 years of age, don’t think their 50-55 year old parents should be giving them advice. Adults at 50-55 have lived enough life to know how to avoid pitfalls. They see the dangers just ahead. They can’t and shouldn’t make decisions for their adult kids, but at the same time they are failing their kids if they don’t warn and explain why.

I’m 66, and at times my mother gives me good advice. I listen to what she says and I try to be cognizant of it.

I know that she has traversed the same issues I have, and knows a thing or two to avoid, even at my age.

Now, as at other times in my life, I may not do exactly what she urges but I do take her warnings serious and I will probably develop my own strategy for avoiding the problem she has identified.

We are all growing up at every stage of our lives.

It’s when we think we have arrived (at any age), that we get into trouble. We become complacent, and trouble sneaks up on us.

Here’s to avoiding that in life, at any age you traverse through.

A very good rule of thumb is this. Imagine telling your parents what you’re about to do. If you would be ashamed to tell them, DON’T DO IT.

I don’t care if you’re 75 and both parents are dead. It’s an excellent tool

Using Jesus in the same exercise is even better.

Don’t assume you know how Jesus would think. Study up on it, don’t do or support things the Bible has made clear.

All the best to you.

True. It’s been made acceptable on many levels and downright promoted in media, education, and entertainment. Unfortunately, most religions or Churches, have ignored the issue, kept silent/ambivalent or promoted it by not being clear or forceful in teaching the morality. The few who have been clear tend to turn off people with their extremist views.

Conservatives left the Education, Media, Entertainment, Religious Institutions many decades ago.

I know from my own kids, who have friends who are homosexuals (aka gay) or transgender, they think it’s odd/don’t agree with it, but really just don’t care. My kids identify as Republicans and Conservatives and vote that way but the homosexual issue just isn’t important to them since they aren’t. They’re pro-life and that seems to matter to matter more to them. Mostly, once they started working at 15 and on, saw their paychecks/taxes, trying to buy homes etc., that’s what their focus has been.

You can raise kids who think it’s gross/unnatural/immoral and still not have it be an issue for them when voting.

We seem to be losing that war.

ConservaTeen has been around for quite a while. He has always been very polite. I would hate to see someone ‘ride the lightening’ simply because they politely expressed an honest opinion.

Thank you, I'm trying...I know that people who grew up in the 50s and 60s are different than my generation. Gays were not out but now, they are. Is it wrong if two members of the same sex are in love? No, not to my generation.

I know FR is a site for religious conservatives. I know, when I posted this, that I might get flamed. I'm trying to learn how my generation can support conservatives. To me a candidate who I agree with 85% to 90% on issues is better than a candidate who I agree with less than 10% of the time.

Good to hear you read the Bible. Hopefully someday you’ll outgrow the stifling, self-destructive, self-loathing beliefs that permeate your generation and see the Bible and Jesus as not just wise and healthy, but what we are trying to conserve.

Yes Jesus rightfully welcomes all because He took part in creating us and thus He loves each of us more than we can ever imagine.

He knows we are all sinners, but yet, He still wants us to return to Him.

Yes, Jesus welcomes your gay friends and me equally, despite each of us being hopless sinners.

But the thing you are hellbent on ignoring is that Jesus does not want us to promote sin.

You are promoting sin by celebrating the self-destructive fixations of your generation: homosexuality.

If you open your eyes to the Bible, since you want to promote yourself and your generation as the most open minded in the history of the universe, you’ll see that he accepted the hooker and the tax collector, but he didn’t celebrate prostitution and tax collecting, much less promote it.

Jesus would like you to continue accepting and loving your homo aquaintances, but he would point out you are making a grave mistake in promoting and celebrating homosexuality.

Sorry to disillusion you, ConservaTeen. The republican party intends to throw the 2018 elections then stand aside while the rats do their dirty work for them and impeach President Trump. There is no hope in the republicans - they are willfully giving this nation away. They are not worthy of your support.

How do you know they're gay? Do they tell you? Why? Do you talk explicitly about sex acts with them? If someone, as a friend, talked openly about sex acts with their spouse, would you think that appropriate? Homosexuals' entire existence is defined by the fact they can't achieve sexual satisfaction in the normal way. Their obsessive need for "acceptance" is a reflection of their own tormented conscience.

I couldn't care less about someone's sex issues, EXCEPT THEY USE THE LAW AND CULTURE TO MAKE ME CARE.

There's a joke you're probably too young to get that the love that dare not speak its name has becomevthe love that won't shut the hell up.

It wasnt a debacle. 1st, voter turnout eas WAY down from 2016. 2nd, Republican turnout was down 50%. 3rd, Roy Moore lost the election when he bombed in the Hannity interview and refused to deny the charges ainst him were true. Many church going voters had their doubts and stayed home. 4th, Roy Moore was never overwhelmingly supported in Alabama. He is eccentric to say the least.

What happend is a liberal Democrat flooded the airwaves with ads making him look like a safe cobservative Demicrat narrowly defeated an erratic Republican candidate in a deep red state.

This is the equivelent to what happened in Massaschusettes in 2009. Safe liberal Republican defeated an erratic Democrat candidate in a deep blue state. Then three years later chusettes threw out that safe liberal Republican senator for true liberal (and fake Indian) Democrat while re-electing the sitting liberal POTUS

Totally agree. However, millions of kids are growing up in a world where everything they learn or see puts a positive spin on homosexuality and transgender and everything else immoral that crushes societies. Yet, careers and people are ruined by accusations when it fits the purpose of the media.

Over 50 years of progressive education, War on Poverty/The Great Society, FDR’s New Deal, unchecked legal and illegal immigration, and so called conservatives who are really statists, helicopter parents who want the government to raise their kids, it’s no wonder we are where we are now.

Lol, homosexuality isn't love, it's abuse. It's done in prison and in the animal kingdom to humiliate and establish dominance.

If you really know "teens" who are actively engaged in homosexuality, you may want to get them help, because they've most certainly been abused.

I support my son, maybe you hate it, but he loves America. He is wondering what the Republicans can do to get the under 30 voters. Is he wrong? No, he is worried about the Republican Party dieing.

He is just like me and Mrs. DeplorableAmerican. We are more libertarian than a Republican, I campaigned for Reagan in 1976 and I voted Democrat in local races (Ella Grasso, a family friend, Joe Lieberman), but I started to leave the Republican Party when Lowell P. Weicker gave Connecticut the income tax. In 1994, I campaigned for an anti-tax candidate for Connecticut governor. In 1996, I voted Libertarian because I wasn't thrilled with Dole (Kemp was fine). In 2000, I got suckered with Bush43, build my nose on McCain (really voted for Sarah), left Romney off my ballot, but voted for Trump.

I like to freak out the millenials in my midst who think they are the greatest because they think they are cooler than my generation because we are old. I tell them they are old too. A new generation has already risen behind them, and this new generation is smarter, more inventive, mote individualistic, and more stable than the millenials. And since they are younger than the millenials, based on the millenial criteria that youth is cool, this newer generation is cooler than the millenials. Lol!

Millenials are growing up gracelessly. They will be ugly when they are in their 50s and feeling their age, if they are lucky enough to make it that far. :)

You are one of the wisest yet most easy going people in all of social media (including Twitter, reddit, and 4Chan), Doughty One. Free Republic is lucky have you here!

I agree with your take on things.

It truly is a mess.

I’ve advocated closing down our schools for a year to totqlly revamp the system.

I don’t get much support for the idea, but everything from our books to our lesson plans, to our gender and sex education need to be rethought.

I also advocate for relative balance in the schools, Liberals vs Conservatives.

We have totally surrendered our children to the Left.

Our government should not be paying to educate our kids against our nation.

Government funding is an issue too.

It’s all a great big mess.

We seem to be losing that war.

As a consequence of the left owning the airwaves, academia and 80% of all Federal government Jobs. Most of the State education jobs too.

Of course, if God is opposed to them, their numbers and positions won't make a difference in the long run.

What he was saying is that the millennials are not interested about lifestyle. They want to be safe from terrorism, they want to keep their hard earned money and to keep illegals out.

I'm glad ConservaTeen wrote it. He is worried that the Republicans aren't trying to get the millennial votes. I agree.

That method of freaking the Millenial out, is a great tactic. It should be a real eye opener. Great call. I’ll have to store that one away.

It does concern me how these snow-flakes plan on venturing into adulthood. They seem so poorly ready for it. Seems to me our institutions have utterly failed them. Of course that’s being generous. They have planned to make them worthless. It’s a method to take down the nation.

Imagine these kids trying to raise children of their own, being 35 year old babies themselves.

I’ve seen parents like what these people will be. They haven’t a clue how to handle children. It’s a recipe for absolute disaster.

I appreciate you kind comments.

I know that I am cantankerous at times. People rub me the wrong way and I let it all hang out.

I’m the lucky one, having Free Republic and the good people like you here.

It makes my day when I run into you and others.

Take care.
