There are lots of people on FR, or people whose writings are posted here, who held very liberal ideas in their youths; but became staunch supporters of conservatism and traditional values (David Horowitz is one who particularly comes to mind.)

ConservaTeen seems to be thoughtful, good-hearted, and to have a good head on his shoulders. Like anyone, his thought will evolve as he grows; and I admire him for sticking his neck out and giving voice to his opinions.

Thanks for having the courage to post your thoughts.

Here are a few thoughts from someone much older:

When I was a teen and first found out what homosexuality was, my initial reaction was “Ewww”. Then “why?”. Followed by assorted ideas and emotions including disgust, confusion, pity, etc., etc. as I tried to sort out my attitude toward this. We didn’t get lectures about it in school in my day.

Eventually I read a column by Ann Landers or Dear Abby (the 2 major newspaper advice columnists at the time) who addressed the issue by saying that a homosexual would find the idea of heterosexual sex just as unappealing as a heterosexual finds homosexual sex. For a while, I bought that argument (partly because it seemed sensible, partly because I was young and respected nearly anything in print, partly because it wasn’t a topic that was discussed anywhere, so I knew of no other opinions on the topic).

As a college student, in a liberal environment, little changed. If anything, I was exposed to some very pro-homosexual literature that was emotionally manipulative and glamorized the homosexual lifestyle. (Side note: I considered myself middle of the road or slightly right of center as a young adult. It took me a few more years before I considered myself a libertarian, so you’re ahead of my timeline in that regard. It wasn’t until much later that I realized I was really a conservative.)

As an adult, having known a fair number of homosexuals, plus having read a considerable amount of actual data (not just emotional manipulative narratives), my attitudes have changed. I regard homosexuals the same way I regard alcoholics. I think they are people with unhealthy compulsions. There are homosexuals and alcoholics who I love. But I would not encourage either to pursue their unhealthy compulsions.

As for transgenders, that is, to me, an extreme form of mental illness. Imagine for a moment that you had a friend who was convinced that he was born in the wrong body and that his real body had only one arm. Imagine that he went to a doctor and convinced him that he was really in the wrong body and that in order to make his body conform to what he believed he was meant to be, the doctor needed to amputate his arm. Would you think the doctor was helping him or hurting him? Would you think your friend needed therapy? Or would you think that your friend needed an arm amputated?

You’re young and you’re a thinker. I don’t expect you will agree with everything that I say, but I do think you are open-minded enough to consider differing opinions and to weigh the evidence when you are presented with facts.

In the facts department, I would encourage you to do an internet search of health effects of homosexuality.

At any rate, hang in there, and thanks for posting.

Thank you. I know I have lots to learn, but I have great teachers (DeplorableAmerican1776, my mom and dad). I am learning from FR, too. I just hope JimRob is okay with my post, but I’ll grow to know that we (conservatives) need to be united. Some of us Conservatives might not be 100% conservative, but we need to unite against the enemy, the Liberals.

You’re young and hopefully you’ll live long enough to mature and see the unsustainability of your generation’s beliefs. Many societies were homosupremecist like your generation. None of them lasted more than a generation.

You may have to change your screen name because conservatism is not what you revere. It’s social progressivism that is your true god.

Try to be open minded about the wisdom of long-lasting societies that you don’t want to conserve.

I believe that we should be free to associate with whom we want. I believe if a Christian Baker don’t want to bake a cake for a gay wedding, he shouldn’t. If I went to a Muslin Grocery store (I know a store that is run by Moslems) and I don’t see pork, I’m not going to demand them sell pork. I’m not going to sue them..

You will fit in here.

Stick around, work on continuing to post politely and with good cheer.

You will go far.

There were some things I knew were right and wrong by the time I reached 18 years of age. I observed the Left and what it was up to, and I viscerally hated it.

I registered as a Republican in those days and never saw a reason to change to a Democrat. The Democrat party is the party of Satan. There’s simply no getting around it.

We kill over a million pre-born each year. They are proud to support that.

I don’t make the rules regarding homosexuality. The Bible does. As a man who believes in Christianity, I believe it is God’s place to judge people in the afterlife.

That does not mean that I shouldn’t be observant and try to ward off things that are just wrong.

You see, once you start accepting the homosexual lifestyle, that lifestyle becomes something to be protected. It becomes a lifestyle that needs to be taught in our schools to very young children so that they will understand and respect those who live that lifestyle.

Once you buy into that, the progression continues and it moves into the LGBTisms, and the string of things protected under that banner. Here again it is all taught to very young children.

Your son is evidence that this practice is working. He and many people his age have been raised to see homosexuality to be on the same plane as heterosexuality. Now the LGBTisms are as well.

This is something heterosexual adults wanted to keep out of the environment of very young children. We were defeated in that.

We never tried to teach very young children the finer details of heterosexual lifestyles to children in k-6th grade. Why? Because it simply wasn’t the type of thing to be burdening young children with before they entered the puberty phase of their lives. To do so earlier would have been more like child abuse than necessary timely information.

And yet this is exactly where homosexual individuals went with their information. And now the LGBTisms are also foisted off on children that have no way of fully grasping what we being taught to them. And, I reference this differently. It’s being fed to them as propaganda.

We now have children at very young ages literally confused as can be what their true gender roles are. “Who, what am I?”

This was the natural progression that homosexual acceptance brought to our children. This amount to a perversion of the normal human process.

Is it sold that way? Heck no! It’s sold as something as natural as can be. Is it? Heck no. If it was these people could wait for kids to figure this stuff out for themselves to a larger extent. Now they are evaluated, counseled, and guided.

Is your child aware that the same folks who were activists for the acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle, were also the people who supported NAMBLA, an adult plan for children of any age to be able to consent legally to sex with adults?

The homosexual activist states all they wanted was acceptance, so they could come out of the closet? They were encouraged to come out. They were accepted (more or less). And then the demands escalated exponentially. They weren’t happy to be out and live in peace. They wanted more, and we have seen what the more has turned out to be.

We now have very young children opting for sex change self identification. We have Leftist parents working on their kids, to confuse them. We see evidence of this all the time.

There’s much more at stake here than mere acceptance.

God in His infinite wisdom, warned us not to go this route.

We did. We are now screwing with our children’s most base self-identities, to satisfy the desires of twisted adults.

If this were an honest movement, the very young kids would be left out of it.

It isn’t.

1) I believe in adoption not abortion. To me abortion is murder. I am waiting to be married before sex.. Abortion should be outlawed, by the States...

Again, it should be up to the States if States wants to recognize gay marriage - however, I believe if you are gay and you want to live with a bf, you should live together without being hassled by the government. I hope my answers are fine...

I’m against illegal immigration, but two of my friends are Cubans and they want all Cubans to be able to immigrate freely, but not Mexicans.

Gen-X and Millennial voters definitely tend to skew more libertarian on social issues. The country is becoming more libertarian on social issues.

libertarians are making the mistake that homoism and potheadism (The Gay Old Pothead establishment -- GOPe) is permanent.

Wrong.

Just like Freeper AlexW bailed on America for the Phillipines because he mistakenly believed obamaism was forever, same goes with the Gay Old Pothead establishment bailing on social conservatism because they believe barbarism is permanent.

Everytime the barbaric forces of a feelings-based movement such as the potheads and homos takeover, the destruction of self-control eventually leads to the society being ruined, such as the global roaring 20s leading to WWII. I know you're trying to score libertarian points off of Moore's loss. Your analysis is too narrow (as is the weakness of libertarian thought), so you either have massive blindspots for all the other reasons, or you are just not being honest with us for the sake of libertarianism.

The homosexual motto is to get them by eight, or else it’s too late. It’s why they are hellbent on infiltrating the schools such as the one conservateen seems to have attended.

You both have raised a fine young man who thinks about the world around him and is experiencing the world w/ his eyes wide open. Congratulations!

Conservateen, great post. It’s exciting to hear a young voice and what you think about life. It’s a heady time and you seem to want to be an active part of it and not just an observer. You will change as you experience life. It will be interesting to get a young person’s take on politics & life. Keep strong and thank you for sharing.

You’ve got it backwards: it’s the left who politicizes everything and makes you care about bedrooms and bathrooms. I don’t “mind” gays any more than I’d “mind” any other soul whose entire identity is wrapped up in sexual deviancy. And “transgendered?” Really. As a teen I hope you have enough wisdom to realize how little you really know about life. Less than even I did at your age, because back then adults hadn’t yet begun stuffing children’s heads with shit.

I hate Mitch McConnell. Do you think we (conservatives) can survive and win in the Republican Party? I think our leaders (Ryan and Mitch) would rather have the Dems be in charge than Conservatives! I think we need to create a new party, because I wouldn’t let Ryan or McConnell lead a 1 person parade. I’m not sure how many of Congress would join, but who would be our leaders there if we did...

I’m homeschooled... My cousin and a friend is gay. My parents (DeplorableAmerican1776) have gay friends. Am I gay? No, but why should I drop my friend and my cousin because they are. I’m not religious, however, did Jesus ignore the hooker or the tax collector? No. (I do read the Bible, but we don’t go to church every Sunday.)
