In a shocking political earthquake, the Republican Party has lost a Senate election in Alabama. For perspective on how difficult that feat was, the closest previous Senate contest in that state over the last two decades was a...19-point GOP victory. Just three years ago, Jeff Sessions ran unopposed. Donald Trump carried 'Bama by 28 points last fall. In my election preview post yesterday, I wrote that an upset by liberal Doug Jones was improbably plausible, due exclusively to the disastrously awful candidate Republicans had nominated. Apologies for quoting myself, but here you go:

There were also more throwaway write in votes than Moore lost by.
We should now be inclined to couple polling results with expected voter turnout. All I saw here on FR was that Moore was leading in the polls, then- badda bing. We better start going for accuracy in data gathering and DATA INTERPRETATION or they gonna be more big surprises coming up.
Justify and analyze the JUDGE ROY MOORE defeat as much as you want. The stark reality is that ALABAMA elected a Senator who believes in PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION and many stand accountable for making it happen through their false witness.
Of course but its MUCH easier to run against someone creepy. Had Crazy Roy not been the candidate I doubt they would have wasted their efforts to the extent they did...esp in Alabama.
but hey when your opponents shoot themselves in both feet.. go all in.
I can believe this. Moore won his statewide judicial election by 4 points in the same year that Romney won Alabama by 20 points over Obama.
Let's face it, folks ... this Roy Moore was borderline unelectable even BEFORE the sordid allegations against him came out.
Yes, shocking.
Liberals chose evil. As always.
Conservatives let liberal evil win. Shades of the antichrist spirit Obama.
Alabama should have listened to Trump.
Guy Benson. Congratulations! You just made the list.
I wrote this to go an another thread. The thread was pulled. I drop it here.
While I write this commentary another 50 humans will be executed aborted in the womb.
Doug Jones is pro abortion. We are trying to get around to defunding Planned Parenthood. Why, because they kill over one million humans per year. Another reason is that without the permission of the mothers, these agencies sell baby body parts to the highest bidder.
As a people we look back on mass murderers like Hitler and his agents of evil, and trash them to no end. Then we proceed to allow the type of evil that Planned Parenthood perpetrates. It's downright genocidal, and there's no denying it.
When someone tells me they're glad a pro-life man lost to a supporter of genocide, I just shake my head and wonder where this person's morals trotted off to.
Roy Moore has not been charged with killing humans. He was charged with doing improper things with young women by consent. One of his accusers did say he tried to do something without her consent, but her story contained a number of factual errors others could verify.
The only charge against Moore, was something she couldn't verify.
So when folks tell me they're glad Moore lost, they're telling me they are happy humans will die. They are happy women made charges that had major problems, and that a man's career was ended on the premise women never lie about such matters.
Now that's what I call, the moral high ground. /s Yes, that "/s" means, just being sarcastic because there is no moral high ground to something that is indisputable, and no high ground judging a man guilty for something that isn't.
As if this wasn't enough to hang your head in shame about, related to being happy Roy Moore was defeated, it's also indisputable that it will now be much harder to get good judges approved.
This won't limit the Leftist villainy to matters of abortion. It will unleash the Leftist mindset when it comes to all manner of Leftist rulings from our highest courts in the land.
No, Roy Moore won't help us approve great judges. Whew! Aren't you relieved! I know I am! /s Once again we open the gates to a sarcastic comment. I'd feel a little guilty but then nobody feels guilty of helping to defeat Roy Moore and call him names to boot. Worst candidate ever!!!
Give Babe Ruth a 14" bat and see what his average winds up being. Hand a tennis player a ball bat, and lets see how many sets he wins. Refuse to hand off to one of the best three point shooters in the NBA, and lets see what his season totals wind up being. Yes, put a pitcher on the mound, with nobody but a catcher on the field. Let's see what his era winds up being.
And once this has been done, let's trash him for being the worst ever. That's what various brain-trusts are stepping up to say about Roy Moore today.
Cut off from any help, Roy Moore got the fewer votes yesterday. He went into the day with a 14" bat, no hand-offs, and no other players on the court/field. What a pretender! what a failure! He let us all down, darn it! He got fewer votes.
Those who giggle at Doug Jones ability to get more votes yesterday, can giggle for the next three years as he helps Nancy Pelosi and the worst Democratic team to take the court/field, in our nation's history.
Laugh it up airheads. Your proud display of morality will cost millions of more deaths, and a lot more destruction to our nation.
Doesn't that just make you giddy with pride.
Well, y'all go ahead and nominate you a nice Republican-Democrat-atheist nominee. Enjoy yourselves. I won't be voting for them.
‘Highly unlikable’ by any Republican voter that despises Christians, eh, wolf?
The Republican party is known as the stupid party for a reason. The establishment is at war with base of its party.
Moore would not have been in the run-off if the Republican establishment had not excoriated Mo Brooks. Mo would have won the general. The Republican establishment knew it and destroyed him. The Alabama electorate was so opposed to Strange that they elected Moore.
We have only the RNC to blame, not Judge Moore.
1. Lying women and baseless accusations.
2. Stupid people who dont think past headlines.
I have a Dem barometer - my 95yo evangelical Grandmother who voted R for Trump for the first time in her life - that I Should Have Listened To On Roy Moore. My other dem barometers convinced me by Oct 1 last year that DJT would win, and I filtered them out on this race. Won’t make that mistake again.
Early in the scandal Moore was interviewed by Hannity. He had a chance to respond like Trump. Strong denial, politically timed set up, and call the accusers liars. Moore’s response was less than convincing. It was weak and squishy.
Anyone falsely accused of being a pedophile needs to go nuclear. “NEVER happened EVER”. “My accusers are politically motivated LIARS.” “I have NEVER and would NEVER do what they allege.” “Total DIRTY TRICK by the Democrat Party.”
Instead: When asked if he remembered dating any woman who was in her late teens while he was a 30-something, Moore said:
Not generally, no and that it would be out of my customary behavior.
WTF does that even mean? Moore simply didn’t cut it.
In 2 years a REPUBLICAN will win this seat back by +15.
As demonically sad as that is, many (most) Republicans in Alabama and nationwide don’t care. They’d just as soon feed unborn children to the bone shredder as their Democrat counterparts. Most Republican politicians these days are about conserving and multiplying one thing and one thing only: money. They don’t give a crap about freedom, Constitutional rights, or unborn children, because those are the concerns of the Lower Class.
The Dems didn't spend money against Hillary and let her be outspent 10-1. Dems didn't encourage a write-in campaign for another candidate.
Only establishment Republicans are stupid enough to undermine their own candidate and intentionally lose a seat in a conservative state.
The analysts were predicting a voter turnout of 25%, which is big for a special election. The actual turnout was 37.5%, which is huge for a special election.
Most of the increase was on the Dem side. Jones got a vote count that climbed to near what Hillary got in 2016 (671K Jones, 729K Hillary).
The Dems turned out like it was a presidential election.
Exactly right, but most Republicans DO NOT CARE. They are willing to kill anyone that is inconvenient to them. Just like the Demonrats.
