Mayor Ed Lee, the citys first Asian American mayor and the man who presided over San Franciscos rise to the top of the tech world, died early Tuesday morning after suffering a heart attack. He was 65.
Lee collapsed while shopping at the Safeway grocery store on Monterey Boulevard near his Glen Park home at about 10:30 p.m. Monday and was taken by ambulance to San Francisco General Hospital. He died at 1:11 a.m., surrounded by his friends and family.
The mayors office released a brief statement early Tuesday morning confirming Lees death, stating in part: Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Anita, his two daughters, Brianna and Tania, and his family. News of Lees unexpected death shocked and saddened city officials, many of whom respected the moderate mayor even when he was their political adversary.

Gods hand reached down and called him to final judgement. Why do I get the feeling, that his final judgement, will NOT include any sanctuary cities?

I’d be interested in what California FReepers think of the mayor’s passing.
To: ontap
Sounds like he was a pretty decent guy and a hard worker for what he believed in, even though the city was San Francisco. Okay, flame away.

First he had a family. So these remarks are disrespectful and border on gloating.
He supports sanctuary and he’s part of the SF liberal establishment. No reason to gloat or equate that with God’s justice because of politics. It’s unseemly, cheapens the site, and I wish the owner or admin mods would step up and delete the comments.
To: sergeantdave
How about California ex pats who have recently (2015) fled to red states?
I certainly wont be shedding any tears. Im not a person who believes Im obligated to say something nice about someone just because he died.
He never got the chance to make amends or make peace with God. Too bad. Those were choices he made.
The interviews Ive seen with him made it hard to believe he was all about compassion for illegals. He came across as a hateful person.

As I said in an earlier post, I won’t miss him. But in reality, like most RAT-run cities, there’s a new RAT going to take his place, so nothing will change. It really doesn’t matter what “flavor”of RAT you have, White, Black, Asian, Hispanic, they all come with the same stink.
To: 4Runner
Well, it sounds like he kept his head down and was more of a work horse than a show horse, so that's something.
He was a big "sanctuary city" guy, but seems to have shied away from major controversies, so far as I can see.
