P22 is the most famous mountain lion in the world, living in Griffith Park, right in the heart of Los Angeles. He was born in the Santa Monica Mountains, and crossed two of the busiest freeways in America, the 405 and the 101, before he settled in the park. Yet P22 is now trapped, hemmed in by freeways and the urban sprawl, with little chance of ever finding a mate. Now a new documentary film will explore his plight and the development of the wildlife crossing at Liberty Canyon in Los Angeles. Angelenos and local conservationists alike are battling to help P22 and the mountain lions of the Santa Monica Mountains, as they try to raise $50 million dollars, while facing resistance from public ignorance and the spread of rodenticides.

Pretty good ratings for “Charlie.” Might be worth watching. Thanks.
Ain’t seen it in decades but remember loving it.
I’ve been stalked by a Mountain Lion.
There is true wilderness all around me.
I’ve been nose-to-nose with a bear.
But, thanks for the advice.
Hmmmmn. Live for the love of nature out the hills above LA.
Wake up with flees in the cold as good for cougars.
Did not know the mountain lions had gotten back into the Hill Country. Thought the last were knocked back in the 30’s
This is crazy. Find people who know what they are doing, use a tranquilizer dart, and relocate him away from civilization. Is it really more complicated than that?
Dale Evans to Roy as she returns to the ranch with a dead mountain lion:
“Pardon me Roy, is this the cat that ate your new shoes?”
I thought Julie Newmar was the cat that changed America.
Or until they kill and eat the little girl, they do that sort of thing you know.
The old expression is, “ONLY FOOD RUNS”.
Shoot the cougar and make a hat out of it.
Ha. Hadn’t seen that one before.
Reintroduction was started on a small scale in the early 1980’s and by the time 10 years had gone by, the reintroduced mountain lions had mated with the lion population further into W. Texas, and set up territories. That connected the populations and re-established a healthy non-related gene pool. Now they are back to stay.
They are also a protected species now-to keep idiots from doing what what was done in the 30’s-making a species extinct is a stupid and lazy solution to a predator issue-keeping your livestock safe behind an electrified fence is a sensible alternative, and there are more than enough deer and small game around here to keep them away from livestock, so they do not come close to humans here like they do in Cali-but they do take wandering pets for fast food-that keeps down the feral dog and cat population...
“Turn it into a wildlife refuge.”
What a perfect solution-get rid of the criminals and garbage in the area-including the liberals-and make it an interesting and clean place to go and see native wildlife-re-purpose some mansions as hotels and restaurants for tourists, charge Cali prices for the rooms, admission to the wildlife park, etc-totally cool and profitable, as well...
Scary-the only time one was watching me, I only realized it when the back of my neck felt cold and crawly-I knew it was in the woods just off the trail. I did have the presence of mind to back out, waving a stick and singing loudly-”Dirty Deeds” was the 1st song that came to my terrified mind...
Since bears have been reintroduced to the area less than 20 miles away recently and are moving this way-may I ask how you got out of the nose-to-nose encounter with a bear unharmed? Just in case-but I hope it never happens. I was about to ask you about that last evening when it started to snow, which made my Hughesnet signal-as well as DirecTV go down and stay down till 8 AM...
BTW-did it snow out your way? We got a few inches, but it was
nearly all gone before noon. When my cowboy called from work, he said he left for work at 7AM and it took him till after 8 to get there-less then 10 miles...
I ran away screaming.
I was on a Trail Crew for the US Forest Service up on the CC Divide.
We had been working on a trail and ran into a huge Huckleberry growth.
We came back the next day with a brush saw to clear the Huckleberries.
My Trail Crew partner was about a half mile behind me.
I strapped on my cutting chaps.
I put the saw on the ground to pull the starting cord.
I pulled the cord and a bear exploded out of the bushes.
The training at that time was to get on your stomach.
I ran screaming down the trail.
I don’t know why the bear didn’t take me.
The only reason I can come up with is the sound of the chainsaw motor threw it off.
Honestly, I had my tongue planted firmly in cheek when I made that suggestion. There's no way on God's green earth you'll ever dislodge the rich and famous from the Hollywood hills.
It's a vast tract of land, with thousands of private residences - not all of them owned by barking moonbats.
I worked my business in that area for a long, long time, and know it well. You'd be amazed at how much wildlife still exists there.
