Justice Department officials are reading through over 10,000 texts between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, Fox News has learned, after it emerged Strzok was removed from Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe following the discovery of anti-Trump messages between them.
Department of Justice officials told Fox News they are in the process of going through the texts so they can hand them over to the House Intelligence Committee.
Strzok, who was an FBI counterintelligence agent, had worked on the Mueller probe, but was reassigned to the FBIs human resources department after the discovery of anti-Trump text messages with Page, with whom he was having an affair. Page was briefly on Muellers team, but since has returned to the FBI.
The disclosure of those messages revived Republican concerns about the objectivity of Muellers probe.
Its unclear whether a significant number of the 10,000 texts have anything to do with Trump or the probe itself.
Justice Department officials say the process of reading and redacting the texts could take weeks, and that the thousands of text messages between Strzok and Page span over several months.
The review process comes as the committee also threatens to move forward with a contempt resolution against top DOJ and FBI officials barring an imminent breakthrough after the agencies did not comply with a deadline to hand over long-sought information that goes well beyond text messages.

(which used to be enough to take away a clearance, amirite?
A counter intelligence official leaving himself wide open to blackmail? If thats not enough to pull his clearance I dont know what is.
Then they would be deleted.
1) If there is anything that needs redacting, isn't that prima facie evidence of a crime? I was under the impression these were private devices, not work devices, hence not secure, hence anything redactable is a no-no. And even if the devices are secure, the app used to pass them, likely isn't, if they were mixing work and (ahem) pleasure on the app.
2) 10,000 texts over several months? That's, say, 2400 texts a month over 4 months; or 80 texts a day. When did they find time to work between texting and screwing?
3) Double check to see if either has had any *other* extramarital affairs.
Which is treason and punishable by death.
It seems he spent more time texting than working on the case.
10,000 texts between the two lovebirds? When did they get time to work? I don’t think I have ever sent 10,000 texts to
all the people I know in my entire texting career.
Can’t disagree with ya there.
No way they had TEN THOUSAND things to say to each other in 90 days. They were clearinghouses for evidence to be erased.
“Department of Justice officials told Fox News they are in the process of going through the texts so they can hand them over to the House Intelligence Committee. “
Like I trust them to pass on anything relevant. Not without redacting the crap out of it at least.
Excellent points—I believe you are correct.
That would be 100 txts/day for three months. They were clearinghouses for some op.
“””Justice Department officials say the process of reading and redacting the texts could take weeks,”””
If Strzok and Page were using government phones to send these text messages, then the public has a right to know the contents of all 10,000 texts and the only texts that should be redacted are ones containing sensitive government information.
Given the extra-marital affair by both players, I suspect very few of the texts contain sensitive government information.
Tar and feather both of them.
What kink of spin would it take to explain why Mueller would staff his investigation team with people who are clearly rabid anti-Trump types?
Perhaps this female was a Russian spy, or perhaps a Crooked Hillary Spy? Hmmm
over 10,000 texts between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page...

Being female, my mind immediately went to Ceegar Man.
See, this is why Trump is wise in leaving Mueller alone.
Yup. Mueller is self destructing on the launch pad and it’s... beautiful.
Yeah, the volume would indicate an operation that goes beyond sexual chit chat banter and political ideology. One or both of them is a spy for HRC, or some other entity like Soros, or...?
ugh!
