German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel on Tuesday warned the US about the dangers of moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
“Recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel does not calm a conflict; rather, it fuels it even more,” Gabriel said. “It’s in everyone’s interest that this does not happen.”
Despite widespread international opposition to the move, Trump is expected to recognize the city as Israel’s capital on Wednesday. A senior administration official speaking on the condition of anonymity told AFP news agency that the president would make the announcement during a speech slated for 1 p.m. local time (1800 UTC). I think we are done with Peace talks. To the other side, they are capitulation talks. Bush and Clinton, then Obama proved this. There is no interest in Peace, just an interest in pushing Israel into the sea.
Should we recognize Berlin or Bonn as the German capital? It seems when the Germanys reunited, we were just fine moving our embassy to Berlin and accepted this as the unified German capital. Since Israel says Jerusalem is its capital, who are we to say it’s not? What gives the Germans the right to tell the Israelis where to put their capital? The Knesset is in Jerusalem, the prime minister works in Jerusalem, all major government activity is conducted in Jerusalem. It makes sense for all countries to accept the obvious; Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. The fact that the opinion of the Arab street makes the Germans and other Europeans tremble, says more about them than Trump making this move.

I could be wrong, but I thought there was something in the terms of Germany’s Surrender in WWII that their capital could not be in Berlin.
