Don’t Be Fooled: The Left Doesn’t Care About Morals; It Cares About Power

but anyone who values both goodness and freedom in this country needs to be wise as serpents. We’re not seeing a revival of virtue in America. We’re seeing a resistance to it.

For true national repentance, there needs to be recognition of objective standards that allow for any of these judgments to be made in the first place. There’s not. We’re not seeing careful consideration of how we got to this point — the abandonment of God as the source of all moral authority or, at the very least, a common recognition of natural law and traditional social norms.

Instead, we are seeing navel-gazing about how to rethink sex, what to do about the brutality of masculinity, and how to delegitimize conservatives who have been accused of abandoning character for political expediency.

Leftists aren’t embracing morality; they’re looking for a way to reclaim the moral authority they lost after past decades of materialism, creeping totalitarianism, and moral bankruptcy. Like fools drunk from their own power, they slipped out of their self-appointed divine seat as arbiters of morals and truth, and they’re now reclaiming it by whatever means necessary. They’re not humbling themselves before the true Moral Authority. They’re replacing it with their own.

You are correct. It is a favored tactic of Saul Alinsky devotees. It is one of his “Rules for Radicals.”

Of course the left cares about morals - THEIR morals.

As a matter of fact, they care about their morals much more than we do about ours since they fight for theirs harder than we do.

The eartag is a giveaway. However, evil is more often subtle, and always consistent: destructive. It despises beauty and seeks to destroy it. It despises joy, and seeks to destroy it. It despises another’s being, and seeks to destroy it.

To them, morality is a cultural construct-”objectivity” through “science” and the preferred avenue of power. V

How about this? Two terms in any office, then must be a private citizen for 2 years with NO governmental employment at federal, state, or local level, whether elected, appointed, or civil service. After that, free to run for any office, including previous. Judges get 6 year terms and 3 years off.

I find it rich that James Comey sits at home now tweeting biblical verses.

Yes and no. I agree with the writer when he says that the left just wants to use this to get more political power. But at the same time, the source of this behavior was not “just sex;” it was the quest for power on a personal level, expressed through brutal sex.

These guys did these things because they knew the left would come riding to the rescue and silence the complainants, either by ignoring them or ridiculing them.

They’d seen this strategy work so well with Bill Clinton that they just thought it was automatic and they’d be protected.

POWER must be removed from the governmental equation. They are supposed to be our SERVANTS, not our MASTERS! They are our EMPLOYEES, not our BOSSES!
Yes, and we must have dry water, too!

</sarcasm>

SOME writers have so confounded society with government, as to leave little or no distinction between them; whereas they are not only different, but have different origins.
  • Society is produced by our wants, and government by our wickedness;
  • the former promotes our happiness POSITIVELY by uniting our affections, the latter NEGATIVELY by restraining our vices.
  • The one encourages intercourse, the other creates distinctions.
  • The first is a patron, the last a punisher.

Society in every state is a blessing, but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one: for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries BY A GOVERNMENT, which we might expect in a country WITHOUT GOVERNMENT, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer. Government, like dress, is the badge of lost innocence; the palaces of kings are built upon the ruins of the bowers of paradise. For were the impulses of conscience clear, uniform and irresistibly obeyed, man would need no other lawgiver; but that not being the case, he finds it necessary to surrender up a part of his property to furnish means for the protection of the rest; and this he is induced to do by the same prudence which in every other case advises him, out of two evils to choose the least. Wherefore, security being the true design and end of government, it unanswerably follows that whatever form thereof appears most likely to ensure it to us, with the least expense and greatest benefit, is preferable to all others. - Thomas Paine, Common Sense (1776)

The following is an excerpt from the "Centennial Thanksgiving Sermon" (1886) (of Declaration of Independence) by a Black Ohio Legislator and A.M.E. Bishop Benjamin W. Arnett on "The Greatness of America" - Note that this Sermon is delivered only a few years after the end of the Civil War by this outstanding scholar/legislator/Bishop.
"Let us see what it is that makes us so great; wherein lies our strength. What has made us one of the greatest powers of the earth, politically and intellectually? Have we come to the conclusion that it is Righteousness that exalteth a nation? We have met to-day at the request of the President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant, and also the Governor of our beloved State, Rutherford B. Hayes. For what? Why call us from our homes? Why come to the house of God? Why not go to the hall of mirth and to the places of amusement to-day? No that is not what they want us to do. We are commanded to go to our 'several places of worship, and there offer up thanks to Kind Providence which has brought our nation through the scenes of another year, and blessed the land with peace, plenty and prosperity.' Then as Americans we have reason to rejoice and congratulate ourselves on the greatness of our beloved country; at this the close of the first hundred years of experimental government of the people, by the people, and for the people. To be a citizen of this vast country is something, and to share in its privileges and duties is more than something." - Dr. Benjamin W. Arnett, 1876 "Centennial Thanksgiving Sermon" - Library of Congress - African-American Section
How sad to think that, for decades now, the future liberty of millions of our children, grandchildren and posterity has been hanging by the threads of such weak-minded and unprepared men and women, many of whom actually self-identified as "conservatives"!!!

One cannot expect more of the cultists called "Progressives." They never have spouted the ideas of liberty anyway, and they certainly have done everything within their human ability and lust for money, power and control to substitute power for themselves over individual liberty for their fellow citizens, but this is ridiculous that, in America, nowhere have been heard the voices of liberty, strong enough to drown out those of the cultists--not even among those claiming to be "conserving" something valuable!

From the Russell Kirk web site:

"So in our time, as Yeats saw,

'Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.'

"Lacking conviction that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, the captains and the kings yield to the fierce ideologues, the merciless adventurers, the charlatans and the metaphysically mad. And then, truly, when the stern and righteous God of fear and love has been denied, the Savage God lays down his new commandments."

- Russell Kirk

...so campaigns will just make a pint to spend bulk of their money frivolous or however.
anonymous donations? in this day of online and such?

A strict accounting of all expenditures for legitimate purposes required, otherwise it would be as you say. And when we get the tax system to a flat tax or FairTax reduce the IRS to the few required to process and distribute donations, and audit the spending.
