Concealed Carry Bill Moves Forward In Congress
The Daily Caller ^ | 11/27/17 | Kerry Picket

WASHINGTON — The House Judiciary Committee plans to mark up the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act this Wednesday. The bill would certify that each state recognize the concealed carry firearm credentials of other states.

Additionally, the bill mandates that states allow their own residents to carry firearms through “non-resident” permits they obtained from another state.

The House bill was introduced back in January by North Carolina Republican Rep. Richard Hudson and the corresponding Senate bill was introduced by Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn.

It would be good if the silencer bill was brought up and passed too.

I want to hear why CCW licenses can be ignired by some states, but the Supremes have ruled that marriage licenses from one state have to be honored in all 57 states.

I want this to pass.

I live in Los Angeles County, and it is impossible to get a permit here.

I’m in New York State. I’m working on the 28 (!!) page packet for a carry permit. I have to list every arrest including juvenile arrests, no matter if they resulted in a conviction. I have to list every counselor I’ve been to no matter what the reason. I have to provide seven written character references and I can’t even start the process until I’ve been here for six months. The cost of the check being written is $129 to exercise a constitutional right.

Yes. PLEASE pass this law!!

I do hope the bill is passed, in the meantime, wouldn’t it be easier to escape from New York? We did in 2010.

While I would love to see this law passed, I suspect it is simply out their to make political points with little chance of success, just like their fake support and votes to repeal Obamacare.

This Sen. Cornyn is all over the place on his ideals and values though. He is for the Dream Act, doesn’t want a wall, and was for letting all the prisoners out.

He obviously isn’t a law and order guy or he wouldn’t be for or against certain things but he co-sponsored this. An enigma. Frankly a bit too squishy for my tastes.

I would love for this bill to become law, because it would cause Liberals to lose their shit like they did Election Night in 2016. My concern is that the Senate RINOs might kill this bill.

I just did my 5 year renewal in Arizona.
I filled out a form about like a 4473 and wrote a check for $43.
Since AZ is constitutional carry you don’t really need the permit. I mostly kept it hoping reciprocity goes through.

My TX renewal was super easy this time, retired military, multiple renewals over the years .... didn’t even need a class or range evaluation . Took me about 2 minutes on line .

That’s pretty much how it is in AZ too once you go through the initial process of class time and obligatory shooting an easy target from 10’ or so.

FYI, don’t even think about not keeping your permit current in NYS, like if you were to decide against paying permit fees and just keep your sidearm for your dwelling. When your permit lapses, the police will call you and tell you to come in and surrender your weapon. That’s right, your gun is not really yours in the lousy state of NY.

I only know this because I moved south and my mother told me police called looking for me after my permit expired and said I needed to give them my gun. I called them to say that I moved out of state and they said have a nice day. I assume the law is still the same. This was about 15 years ago.

“This Sen. Cornyn is all over the place on his ideals and values though. He is for the Dream Act, doesn’t want a wall, and was for letting all the prisoners out.”

The wall is a tough sell with ranchers down on the border. On the one hand they complain about illegals crossing their land, tearing down fences, destroying property, defalcating everywhere and spreading disease, etc, etc. then, on the otherhand they don’t want to give up any land for the wall. It’s the same logic that killed the Trans Texas Corridor. A bit of hypocrisy if you ask me....

10 mins, $25 dollars, for 5 years. I had to show my DL & have the names of 2 friends who know me. Here’s the kicker should this bill pass (and I hope it does). Those who carry will be required to know state laws regarding firearms. No hollow points in NJ, no more than 7? rounds in NY, etc.

My wife and I just got non-resident Utah CCWs here in California. While they are no good here at present, they are good in 38 states, and if this law were to pass, they would have to be honored here.
We had to take a class offered through a local sporting goods store for as I recall something like $75 each. It was a four hour course. They took our fingerprints, helped us fill out the application, and gave us the required instruction per Utah law. Then all that was required is a passport photo, a photocopy of our CA DLs, and a couple of stamps to mail the whole package to Utah. Under Utah law, they have to either issue or deny the permit (in writing) within 60 days. The permits showed up in about 55 days.

Cornyn is the very definition of RINO, a ‘Perfumed Prince of the Potomac.” His mission in life is to stay in office no matter how. He does not care which party sits in the White House nor does he prefer being part of the majority party because that means he has to do something and then take responsibility for it. His politics can be summed up with the phrase “It is better to serve in a democrat Hell than to rule in a Conservative Heaven.”

He is my Senator whom I usually must vote for because the alternative is unthinkable. Unfortunately for us serfs, it is a situation many of us are in ... and our Senators know it.
