A U.S. warship collided with a Japanese commercial tug boat in Japan's Sagami Bay on Saturday, marking the fifth time this year that a ship in the U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet in the Pacific has been involved in a crash. The Japanese tug boat lost propulsion and drifted into the USS Benfold during a towing exercise. The U.S. guided-missile destroyer sustained minimal damage, and there were no reported injuries on either vessel, according to a press release from the U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet. The USS Benfold, which is awaiting a full damage assessment, remains at sea under its own power. The incident will be investigated, the 7th Fleet said.

Not likely. An evaluation of training among the 7t Fleet demonstrated tat there are no personnel trained to sail these ships. Obama has completely destroyed the readiness status of the entire military.
Arrrrgggggg,... sounds like a Sea Scout Could do a better job of navigation.
Fake news! The tug drifted into the Ship
But they have transgender bathrooms. Glad they have their priorities straight.
“I think I should go down to the Navy office and tell them they need to hire me to stand on the forward deck of one of those expensive ships with a walkie talkie.
In a hurry. It would not require training”.
In this case you would need to learn Japanese and get on the Japanese tug boat. I guess you didn’t read the story.
Maybe you should read the story. Misleading headline.
From the era of military service that I come from, this mishap would be viewed as a golden opportunity for some real-world training. Hopefully, whatever officer was in charge took advantage of this.
Sounds like they were tailgating, so they still need me.
All things being equal the powered vessel is burdened — but in this case all things are not equal. The naval vessel is surely much larger than the tug and therefore less maneuverable.
Yes,... but I will say after two previous incidents it was bound to happen (folks jumping to conclusions).
I believe it was a training exercise, where this occurred.
I’m not privy to enough information to know if this could have been avoided once the tug lost power. Some things just happen, and you can’t avoid them.
Thats right. Some people here need to read the story before they start wetting their panties...corrected
How about the military get back to being a military, hiring the right, qualified people and stop this social justice, engineering crap which is ruining the military.
Have you seen some of the fruits, dregs, and layabouts joining today?
I went to MEPS for my Marine son nearly two years ago, and you could tell who was joining Navy, Army, compared tot he Coastguard, Airforce, and Marines.
We then not long ago went to a Navy port, and boy there are people who walk around hands in pockets, uniform not ironed, covers not on proper, waking on grass etc. They were a disgrace to the Navy , and the military, but then again when you now have people joining for their freebies, and now sex changes what can you expect.
Regardless of who hit who since you keep saying to others about misleading headlines, the Navy is hiring people who should not join, and they care more about social issues, cross dressing, women , and homosexuals than actually getting the right people in the Navy
I understand the Social Engineering aspect and it is disgusting. But people should not make comments that are ignorant of the facts concerning a particular incident. That’s Snowflake territory.
Lol. You’re right.
The Love Boat?
I see your point but people should not make comments that are ignorant of the facts concerning a particular incident. Thats Snowflake territory.
The tug rammed into our ship....Doubt this is our fault.
