Well, if there’s one thing we can say about this Boston Globe op-ed, it’s honest. I don’t mean honest regarding facts or anything, but honest in detailing what gun control advocates really, really want: confiscation.
Trouble is, it’s not clear the "something" Democrats typically demand would make a real dent in the nation’s epidemic of gun violence. Congress can ban assault weapons, but they account for just a tiny sliver of the country’s 33,000 annual firearm deaths. And tighter background checks will do nothing to cut down on the 310 million guns already in circulation.In other words, the proposals aren’t just difficult to enact in the current political climate; their practical effects would also be quite limited.

Ultimately, if gun-control advocates really want to stanch the blood, there’s no way around it: They’ll have to persuade more people of the need to confiscate millions of those firearms, as radical as that idea may now seem.

Liberals hate guns. They hate people who own them, but they haven’t figured out a way to exploit gun tragedies that can yield political dividends. Moreover, they want confiscation. They want a ban, but can’t say that because then the whole movement gets nuked. So, thanks to the Globe for just putting it out there.

I don’t mean to be picky, but Pol Pot did not come to power in Cambodia until 1975. The French colonial government in that country likely had strict laws pertaining to civilian firearms ownership until banning it altogether in 1956. No doubt though, that Pol Pot took advantage of a disarmed citizenry and millions died in the “Killing Fields” and the interrogation rooms.
Their writers live somewhere. How hard would it be to “say hello” tomorrow morning as the pull out of their driveway on the way to work?

The best solution is counter-intuitive to a Leftist. Not fewer guns, more guns. The most violent cities are those which ban guns. The most peaceful cities are those which allow concealed and even open carry. If anyone might be armed then everyone must be treated as equally powerful. A 6-foot-4 shady young man has to consider the fact that a 5-foot-tall frail old woman just might be able to punch his ticket. And so he will say, “Good morning,” as they pass on the street and go about his business.
An armed society is a polite society.

The Great Equalizer.
I win many gun debates, but have had NO ONE concede after hearing the Great Equalizer argument. You know the one - Where a little old lady has the power to defend herself against multiple, or larger attackers because of the gun. Without the gun, the big guy would win everytime and walk all over everyone.
I have a friend in New Zealand (Australia now) who LOVES this lifestyle. He gets mugged and beaten on pretty frequently. He trains to be strong and able to defend himself, but some huge dude (Usually Maori) will come along and clean his clock for his phone, wallet or sometimes just because he’s white.
This is the world that the liberal commie wants. But there is more. They don’t want total confiscation - they want to have the guns. They want everyone else to be disarmed.
Nothing scares me quite like taking a lib to a gun range. They are typically unwilling to learn or even to listen. They see a gun and immediately wax adoringly about how they want to, would, or could-so-easily kill someone or some people.
Communists don’t want equal. They want supremacy over others. They want to dominate. They are violent, arrogant and ignorant.
Yeah, but these were real men with real cajones. Not surgically altered to “look like a man”.

Our founders never envisioned high-capacity printing presses, let alone the internet.
Years ago I saw a bumper sticker with Stalin on one side and Hitler on the other; both were saluting, and along the bottom were the words, “Those in favor of gun control raise your right hand”...
