A preschool that leases space from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder is shutting down at the end of the month after the church congregation voted to become a sanctuary for undocumented immigrants facing deportation.
"It put us out of business," said Active Boulder Kids owner Kristen Argow Heaton.
About 90 percent of the congregation that attended a church meeting on the matter last month voted to move forward with plans to outfit a portion of the building to provide living quarters for an immigrant taking sanctuary.
Argow Heaton said that parents notified the church ahead of the vote that they had safety concerns, and those concerns were not addressed, prompting more than half of the 22 children who attend the preschool to be withdrawn.
"They were not concerned about the person going into sanctuary," she said. "They were concerned about people against the idea of sanctuary doing something to the location. It was more outside concern."
The school is not affiliated with the church but leases space in the building.
Rev. Kelly Dignan disputed the claim that the concerns of the school and parents were not listened to, saying school officials were notified in July of the congregation's plans. She added that the school had already been discussing whether its location at the church was working for the school's business model and whether it was sustainable for it financially to remain.
"We wish them all the best in their other location," Dignan said. "Our congregation will continue to offer big, courageous love in a world that would have us feel paralyzed by fear."

At least ICE will know where to make a weekly pickup.
Read it more carefully, according to the article, parents were not worried about illegal immigrants being there with their little ones. They were more worried about danger posed by those against illegal immigration, there might be retaliation through destruction of property.
I have to admit I’m coming to the place where I want to live in the middle of a lot of land with nobody around at all.
This nation is melting down.
So much projection of assumed guilt and predicted crimes.
**Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder **
No comment.
I agree.
Kids that age develop attachments to their teachers, caregivers, etc. They make friends that potentially last a lifetime.
And that church is going to rip that all away from them--not to mention the problems it may cause parents who work--just for one person who broke the law and may well break others, including the one against murder.

You only need to see two words to understand all of this, and those words are Boulder and Unitarian.
Lets face facts. I think we all really knew that Leftists put illegals before the children. They are as phony as a 3 dollar bill.
Yeah, I don’t believe their justification for one minute either.
That’s what they said. To keep their PC creds in Boulder, once described by a speaker as “a city surrounded by the United States.”
Their hierarchy of aggrieved groups changes and mutates all the time - so fast and so often that it is hard to keep abreast.
The weightings are interesting. 22 kids vs one illegal. I could have seen one American kid losing to one illegal alien, but 22 to 1! Wow.
For the liberals, the bonus is they put an evil private sector company out of business. As we all know, they believe child care should always be in the purview of the government.
There are three concerns expressed in the article, but the last is (probably intentionally) subordinated to the first and second.
1. “...the church is doing civil disobedience and there is nothing legal about it. If that’s a risk the church wants to take, that’s fine, but they are roping our kids into it. I feel like that was unacceptable.”
2. “They were concerned about people against the idea of sanctuary doing something to the location. It was more outside concern.”
3. “...some parents had concerns about how people taking sanctuary at the church would be vetted.”
Another item...”[the congregation] voted to move forward with plans to outfit a portion of the building to provide living quarters.”
I wonder if it’ll be properly designed and lawfully permitted. Liberals always following zoning regulations and laws.
Read carefully. The preschool and parents weren’t afraid of refugees, they were afraid of evil conservatives who might do violence to the sanctuary.
Evilness has taken control over the US. Sure, take away from the children and give to the scammers.
The little part time church preschool here turns out kids who graduate at the top of the HS classes. A dozen years later and you can tell which students attended because they’re always the better behaved in class and are the high achievers.
It is no surprise.....after all, it is the People’s Republic of Boulder.
The management of this church needs to be indicted for conspiring to violate Federal law.
Indict.
Try.
Convict.
Incarcerate.
Enough of this garbage.

Your Church is not a shield to ICE subpoenas and raids. It’d good of the church to concentrate illegals in one place.
Rereading it, it seems there are three possible fears. See my Post #33.
As several have surmised, the fear of evil conservatives doing violence is most likely a red herring so they can keep their SJW cred up in Boulder.
In my area in NJ many of the CHILDREN would be illegals - so they might be afraid they’d be caught up in a raid.
