ISN'T IT OBVIOUS?
This warning label (among about a half dozen warning labels) appears on my son's baby carriage: Do not fold carriage with baby inside! It may seem funny to state something so obvious, but I suppose to cover themselves against lawsuits from people who couldn't figure out to first remove the baby, they put on the warning label. The Prophet Micah gives us easy-to-follow instructions for a good life that seems so obvious and elementary we wonder, is that all we have to do to live happily and peacefully?
The answer is YES! All we need do is follow these simple rules:
To do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God!
Micah 6:8

"I VOW TO THEE, my country, all earthly things above, Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love; The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test, That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best; The love that never falters, the love that pays the price, The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.
And there's another country, I've heard of long ago, Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know; We may not count her armies, we may not see her King; Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering; And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase, And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace."

That does sound like a good way to decompress. After being on a sub with so many others, wide open spaces and some solitude ...... aaaaaaahhhh.

It would be great to have him come to see you. And to take some of the millions of pecans off your hands.
It’s good to see family once in a while! I’m not the type, nor is my hubby, have to have family all around us 24/7/365, but I do enjoy seeing them once in a while.

Exactly
114days of someone with their nose in your face
My regimen was to sit in the desert alone and decompress before I came home to my woman

LOL! Video games do while away the hours, for sure.
I was “retired” early because of a bum back and it does drive me nuts at times. But there are 42 (currently) lil furry critters that keep me occupied for the most part with their constant demands for attention. >^..^<

After the close quarters on a sub, I’m sure wide open spaces felt really restful and a relief. You’re still a loner. :)
I’m glad you have the VFW, though, so you don’t become a real, REAL hermit. Ya know?

Yes, it would be nice. We saw them when we went up to their place for the solar eclipse and haven’t seen them since. His work schedule is crazy and his weekends are spent getting things done around the house. So we don’t see each other very often though we’re just a couple of hours away from each other.
But it’s their turn to come here. :-)

Yep, that’s a long time to be in such close quarters. You needed a break before going home. Anyone would. You were lucky to have a perfect place to do it.

No mice, at least not for long! We have a “herd” of cats. Living on a farm with a BIG red barn, people have a tendency to toss out their unwanted cats here. We take them in, get them “fixed”, and they stay for the rest of their lives.
I guess it’s only retirement because I don’t get paid. LOL

Dogs are like that! Glad you have him!
I agree that retirement is like a very long vacation. I waited a long time before making the decision to do it, but when I did, I have never looked back and I don’t feel the need to fill every moment with action.
You have video games....I have the internet. And my hubby and are together but not having to entertain each other every moment. We each do our own thing.
