Roy Moore blasted by woman's lawyer: 'He knows full well' why the women kept quiet

Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore on Saturday again adamantly denied sexual misconduct allegations and promised that "revelations about the motivations" behind the news report of his alleged behavior will come out in a few days.

His Democratic opponent, Doug Jones, meanwhile said Moore needs "to answer to the people of Alabama" about the "very serious allegations."

And the lawyer for a woman who says Moore dated her when she was 18 and he was in his 30s and supplied her with alcohol before she was of legal drinking age responded later Saturday to the candidate's comments. Paula Cobia, lawyer for Gloria Deason, blasted Moore for making what she called "defamatory statements" about "4 brave women."

"He knows full well why these women did not tell what he did to them before this week," Cobia wrote in a statement posted on Facebook on Saturday. "As young teenage girls in the late 1970s in a small, rural southern town, they had no way of knowing their rights, especially against him considering that he was a district attorney at the time."

“As young teenage girls in the late 1970s in a small, rural southern town, they had no way of knowing their rights, especially against him considering that he was a district attorney at the time.”

What rights? Is there a law against a man trying to date women who are over the age of 16? What law might that be? These people are now completely making stuff up. The only thing they claim to have is that supposedly Moore trying to date a 14 year old girl. They don’t have women - they have one woman. That’s the only claim they have - the rest of it is noise. We will see how that story with the 14 yo ends up.

Justice Clarence Thomas, Herman Cain, and now this. We should expect these smears as the new normal against Republican opponents who stir up strong emotions amogst the Democrats.

Don’t forget the “he spoke to me inappropriately on an airplane!” gang who tried to derail President Trump’s campaign.

EXACTLY! I keep asking what is the CRIME here?

Did he stalk, harass, threaten, or assault someone?

I saw where Moore said...he sure didn't buy her drinks in the places she mentioned since the county was "dry" at the time.

State law was 19 at the time. Of course it only applied to "Wet" cities or towns or counties.

I would probably have bought these women’s stories if they’d broached them back at one of the TWO times Moore was being elevated to the Alabama SUPREME Court. But at THIS late date, under THESE circumstances? Get real! Have they located the WaPo reporter “Beth” who offered $$$$ for any dirt on Moore?

So any woman, anywhere, can, forty years after the fact, accuse a man of the vague ‘crime’ of sexual harassment - and a man’s career, reputation and aspirations are suppose to instantly disintegrate into thin air.

That is exactly the part that burns me.

He's being pelted with as yet unsubstantiated allegations of sexual harassment and/or abuse, and he's the one making defamatory statements???? I guess when you have no facts/evidence, all you can do is turn up the hyperbole.

Actually he answered and that is all he has to do. No evidence, no corroboration, no charges, no nothing. Just an allegation. A seriously old allegation.

How did Moore know why they didn’t come forward until now?

I’m reminded of what Ann Margaret said to John Forsythe in KITTEN WITH A WHIP, after she abducted him...

“All I have to do is mess my hair and scream. One look at me and who would believe you!”

Clear sign of political hit job: Why is one woman’s lawyer speaking on behalf of all 4 women?

If Roy Moore did do wrong, he should quit, but after he gets elected. Then, after he quits, the governor of Alabama can appoint a temporary replacement, and have another election later to get somebody to serve out the remaining part of the 6 years for a senator. Don’t want to give a democrat the seat by default.

Now, if lawyers and the left-wing media can reach for far back to accuse people of sexual assault, then, why don’t they go back to the accusations against Bill Clinton, which are a lot more recent and a lot more egregious.

BTW, has anybody seen Bill Clinton lately? He used to be seen at least once a week before the slew of accusations against Hollyweird executives and actors came out. Is he afraid that a lot more women will come out with accusations against him, now that it’s become “safe” to do so?

He needs to answer the 3 timed divorced, 3 times bankrupt, who faccused multiple pastors of the same thing, and never said a word about Roy Moore for almost 40 years until it looked like he was going to win the election?

They timed it for the election. A Democrat specialty.
