One of Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore's most prominent backers pulled his support Friday evening in the wake of sexual assault allegations against the former state Supreme Court chief justice.

Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, posted on Twitter that "having read the detailed description of the incidents, as well as the response from Judge Moore and his campaign, I can no longer endorse his candidacy for the U.S. Senate."

Disagree. The now 53 y/o woman’s tale doesn’t hold water. Destroy her credibility first and foremost, and then the rest of the WaPoop hit piece falls apart. He kissed an 18 y/o when he was 32 y/o, 14 years her senior. In 1979, that was not uncommon or “disgusting.” Later, at 38, he married a 24 y/o with years of child bearing potential — he’s 14 years her senior. They’re still in love and married 32 years later, with a bunch of children & grandchildren. Alabamians/Southerners get it.

No but there are MANY personality cultists that will tell you that Mike Lee the most conservative Congressman is a fraud, faux conservative just for doing what he has a right to do. He didn’t besmearch or trash the man he simply pulled his endorsement. Trump didn’t give his 100% to the allegations as well. You are correct however his interview was really bad, something the fan bots won’t admit to if this thread.

Populist nationalism often gets mired into the cult of personality. Evidence is when it is asked if he’s condemed every criminal on the left for criminal acts. It’s akin to shielding another’s suspected guilt through deflection. A strategy long used by the left

Mike Lee, Mr. Conservative, told Trump to drop out of the presidential race on October 8th, one month before the election. There is zero doubt that doing so would have handed the election to Hillary Clinton. Yet that is what Mike Lee did. So that is who he is.

As far as I know, not a single Senator attacking Moore has called for Menendez to step down despite the charges against him being enough to convince the prosecutors to charge him, the grand jury that there was probable cause and the judge to allow the case to proceed through trial, refuse to dismiss it and send it to the jury (where it is now). Compare that these sleazy hypocrites who take 40 year-old allegations peddled by the Wash Post a month before the election as gospel.

I don’t get bent all out of shape when it comes to someone’s preference to President. It’s politics that’s what they do. HOWEVER ones own actions speak much more than words and there is no one on this forum that can debate his loyalty to conservatism by way of his voting record. I don’t get all caught up in the hysteria of frothing at the mouth because a Congressman has said he’s pulled an endorsement. Should Moore make it I can assure you they will both be voting the exact same right on down the line

One of the best posts about culture ever on Free Republic.

You have a wonderful heritage.

What is it going to take for people to realize there are no Democrats and Republicans there is only the ruling class. Such a dog and pony show designed to destract the populace while they steal more liberty.

You made me do a little thinking, my mother was not quite nineteen when she married my thirty-one yo father. He owned a restaurant at the time and she was a young farm girl who started working part time for him when she was sixteen.

I don’t think the judge did very well on Hannity.

Hopefully no one in Alabama takes offense, but since I was raised there and have family there, I will say this. Those not from Alabama have as much difficulty with style of delivery in Alabama as I have with many northerns. His style on a phone was not as well presented as it might have been in person.

Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, and L Ron Hubbard all have the same father.

John 8:44

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Agreed. Mike Lee is a squish. The voters in Alabama don’t believe this so that’s what really matters.

You are blessed to have such parents.

Our frame of reference is so skewed these days, with couples marrying later and later in life (or not at all) and recent generations promoting the nonsense of “perpetual adolescence.” The concept of adolescence was practically unknown until the 20th Century. A person of 16-18 years of age was considered an adult, and even today perhaps should be. I went into the Navy at 17, and have been making my way in the world since, some 45+ years ago. We need young adults to once again begin acting like...well, adults.
