Chris Matthews: “I Drank Too Much and I Quit”

It’s possible that Chris Matthews has publicly discussed his drinking past before, but I had never witnessed it until tonight.

When, on this evening’s Hardball, a winning Dem candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates started to discuss the opioid crisis, Matthews spoke up:

“I was lucky not to have that [opioids.] I think I drank over the years too much and I quit.”

It’s no secret that Matthews had a drinking problem, but this is the first time I’ve heard him mention it.

I haven’t watched Matthews in many years, but I do remember seeing him pretty drunk on his show more than once. Good for him for being able to stop, however he did it. Never heard of his going to treatment or if he goes to meetings.

Chrissy can be drinking buddies with Dubyah now, they can sing songs together and commiserate about how much they hate DJT. Judging by Dubyah’s recent hystrionics, I’d say he’s drinking again.
