The research clearly shows that spanking is related to an increased likelihood of many poor health, social and developmental outcomes. These poor outcomes include mental health problems, substance use, suicide attempts and physical health conditions along with developmental, behavioural, social and cognitive problems. Equally important, there are no research studies showing that spanking is beneficial for children.
Those who say spanking is safe for a child if done in a specific way are, it would seem, simply expressing opinions. And these opinions are not supported by scientific evidence.

Of course there are no research studies that show spanking is beneficial. No one would ever get a grant for that, and no one would ever publish an article on it because of who controls what gets published.
Exactly the same as science research on creationism. They will never get a grant and never get published.
Like with guns, the left cannot control themselves and turn every routine scenario into a perverse, destructive experience that ruins things for everyone.
The header should read "If you are a normie, skip this."
As if I am going to take advice from a scholar who at the same time is trying to teach that there are more than 2 genders. Yeah. I need to take advice on children from that lust-monkey....Pfffff.....
I like to give this analogy when talking about spanking: think back to your childhood. Go as far back as you can remember and recall at least 3 memories. Are they good or bad? Did they involve elation and happiness or pain and sadness?
Chances are those memories revolve around something “traumatic.” I was 4 when I broke my leg, and I can vividly recall things about that day. I got chicken pox when I was 5 and remember laying on the couch sweating and crying. And I remember when my mother swatted my hindquarters when I was 6 after I mouthed off to an adult.
I grew up to be a normal, well-rounded adult; no signs of “poor health, social [or] developmental outcomes.” This no-spanking crap has given us an entire generation of mouthy, entitled adults, many of whom don’t respect authority. If I ever have children, and they do something to deserve it, they’re gonna get swatted, because pain triggers parts of the memory. It’s part of our survival instinct: if it hurts, don’t do it again or avoid it to avoid pain. A swat on the butt when its deserved is an instinctual method to teach our children what’s inappropriate behavior.
Spanking prepares a person for riding horses by toughening the butt.
I recall our pediatrician telling us that once in a while it was appropriate. He warned us that the first slap on the rear end was for the child. Any more was for you.
I think I spanked my daughters twice. Total.
They are fine.
But spanking is not hitting, nor is it whipping, or using blunt force.
There are a lot of people who don’t know the difference.
Growing up we got the ‘belt.’ My father’s leather belt against our bottoms.
I still remember my father lining up six kids from oldest to the youngest where some crime had been committed and the truth had not been revealed. He held his belt in two hands, folded over, and he snapped it as he walked up and down our line demanding the truth or else. We stood there quivering and some with tears in his or her eyes while we waited for the dirty-deed-doer to confess. The tension he created was much worse than the actual belt touching the edge of our pj’s or nightgowns as my father would let it loose like a whip to hit at our calves. Much worse than a spanking was my father’s deep disapproval and coldness. I would have traded for a spanking any day than to face his intentional silence.
I had my share of spankings (well deserved), and I definitely support the practice. Take me to any place a group of children are interacting, and I can point out which ones AREN’T spanked by their bad behavior. Their treatment of other children and even their parents exposes the lies in this piece.
“And these opinions are not supported by scientific evidence.”
When these social “scientists” pull out of the hat the scientific-evidence talking point, it is the sign that it’s all garbage and nothing scientific. Which applies to 99.99% of all social, economic and epidemiologic research.
DON’T SPANK THEM DRUG THEM /s
Barbara Streisand.
I do child abuse work and spanking is wrong. Period.
BS
Generations that were spanked as children grew up to be independent, self starters and hard workers - people of vision and accomplishment.
They built the nation, won World Wars, put men on the moon and invented darn near everything that makes modern life possible.
In general, much of the recent generations that weren’t spanked as children remain adolescents well into adulthood, shirk responsibility, have child-like fears of common things, can’t deal with a conflicting idea, are low achievers and accomplish little other than mastering digital games.
Some research takes a predetermined outcome and guides the research in that direction.
I taught my son early on never to ask for things in the store. Hubby claims that I did that by slapping his hand when he would start to become unruly in wanting things that he saw. I dont remember. I only remember that I did not have to put up with that horrible behavior I often see children exhibit in the store.
I wonder if the problems with schools these days might be attributable, at least in part, to the lack of corporal punishment these days.
My oldest daughter, who was six at the time, and her brother and sister, four year old twins, were just being particularly bad one day and driving me crazy. I was fussing at them over and over. Finally, my six year old came up to me and said”Mommy - sometimes we just need a whipping, “
Too many equate spanking with beating and pool it in with hitting older kids...
Oh look.
Another New World Order rant.
Blah Blah Blah Soros propaganda blah...
