With gun ownership on the rise and the numbers of those with concealed carry permits exploding, a new poll shows that Americans are ready to use those weapons if threatened.
In a survey for Insurancequotes.com, 78 percent said that they are mentally and physically prepared to kill an intruder. And even those armed with less lethal weapons, such as pepper spray or a golf club, would kill if they had to.
Some 44 percent of homes have a gun, according to the Pew Research Center.
The thrust of the survey was to see how well prepared Americans are to handle an intruder and it appears they generally feel up to the task.
Overall, about 45 percent believe that they will face an intruder at some point.
Those who felt most threatened have “armed” themselves with security cameras. The next choice was a gun, followed by pepper spray, an alarm system, a baseball bat and a golf club.

If you are gonna pack, you better have the correct mindset.
I am curious though how an “Alarm System” kills someone.
I’m ready to kill any intruder who forces their way into our house.
That includes anyone who shows up without a warrant.
If you’re willing to own a gun, shouldn’t this percentage be closer to 100%?
Another goofy headline.
It’s “ready to kill if threatened with deadly force”.
Perhaps they assume all gun owners in sanctuary states CA and CT aren’t really willing to defend themselves.
and the other 2 will do it, too
they just don’t want to tell the pollsters is all
the entire purpose of carrying is defense
and defense involves using the piece, not just putting it in a pretty rhinestone holster that matches your silk shirt
2 in 10 gun owners don’t think they or their family should be defended against death.
My home security systems:
4 dogs
alarm
cameras
3 pistols
2 ARs
Shotgun
2 hunting rifles
3 adult civilians with NRA training
and one former Infantryman who made expert in every single weapon system from grenades to heavy machine guns -and- is old enough that he doesn’t really care about your sob story.
2 in 10 should not own gun.
Remember. Anyone worth shooting is worth shooting twice, or three or four times, whatever it takes to stop the threat.
-which gun owner in their right mind tells a stranger that they own a gun?
-which gun owner in their right mind (or golf club owner for that matter) tells a stranger they're prepared to use deadly force if required?
1) Intruder breaks into the home. 2) Homeowner sees him on the security camera. 3) Homeowner breaks camera off bracket and beats the intruder to death with it.
Should be 10 out of 10.
The other 2 need to get their head together or quit carrying guns.

If you aren’t prepared to use a gun, and that is how you planning to protect you and yours, you would be much better off finding a weapon that you will use.
News that the FBI “pick-locked” and entered the Manafort home while they were asleep alarmed me, as I’ve no doubt my husband would confront home invader/s with the Remington shotgun by our bed. And if they were FBI, he’d be dead. If the FBI had pounded on the Manafort’s door and yelled, “FBI. Open up” and rammed the door open seconds later, it might be okay. But pick-locking and entering while they’re asleep and storming in while they’re not thinking clearly? No way.
I could kill someone with my golf club but I would have to use my driver and they would have to stand still on a tee.
Golf Club CONTROL!!!
