News that the FBI “pick-locked” and entered the Manafort home while they were asleep alarmed me, as I’ve no doubt my husband would confront home invader/s with the Remington shotgun by our bed. And if they were FBI, he’d be dead. If the FBI had pounded on the Manafort’s door and yelled, “FBI. Open up” and rammed the door open seconds later, it might be okay. But pick-locking and entering while they’re asleep and storming in while they’re not thinking clearly? No way.
Its common for alphabet agencies to use surreptitious entry specialists .... they will surveil your property for electronics, digital, and physical security. They will put your puppy in safe nap mode with a drug laced snack if outside. They will brownshirt (UPS) or blueshirt (USPS) visit multiple times to recon your entry security, types of sensors, AIR, PIR, Microwave, IR laser trips, infrasonic etc .... are said sensors sequencing to preclude such surreptitious attacks etcetera .... then comes the hard to defeat stuff like physical security hardware, not locks but bars or cross bolts that can only be opened from the inside.... can’t be “picked” per se.
Try and make sure your security is layered with video of exterior that can be set to use “virtual fences”. Such virtual fences are mere digital lines on a monitor that if crossed on “just” the monitor they alarm. Then sequencing sensors that randomly go off and on with overlapping area coverage both inside and outside. Then the physical security, drop bars, medico locks, dogs and shotguns.
The simplest you can get is 2 dogs outside and 2 dogs inside that have the run of the house. A pistol with a rail light. And always sleep with your bedroom door locked.
I always determined how many people lived there, ages, sex etc.... waited till they were all out of the house. Delayed them in transit and just made entry to secure evidence identified by a proper search warrant. Safest way for all concerned in my experience. No screaming, or fighting, shooting etcetera.....
Best security is to stay legal, cooperation with LEO/FLEA’s you encounter, make the “home invasion” be it legal or illegal hard on the invaders versus the defenders. Dogs, Doors and Death await for uninvited sorts who make a dynamic entry.

I am (probably) thinking out of the box BUT...
Maybe -in certain cases- they don’t mind ‘sacrificing’ one of their own in order to be able to ‘take out’ the intended target and potential witnesses.
Remember these are the same fools that say it is ‘impossible’ to flush out 50 million (just a number) illegals while they see absolutely no huge problem in locating & confiscating weapons from the population.
Well, they think the locating will be ‘solved’ by mandatory registration not realizing that when SOME citizens have had enough they just disregard your silly ‘rules’.
