President Trump doubled down on his call for the Justice Department to investigate Democrats on Friday after a former Democratic National Committee chair acknowledged the party tipped the scales in Hilary Clinton's favor during last year's primary.
Trump told reporters outside the White House that he is disappointed in the Justice Department for not investigating Clinton, reiterating that he believes the agency should do something.
Im really not involved with the Justice Department. Id like to let it run itself, but honestly, they should be looking at the Democrats," he said.
They should be looking at Podesta and all of that dishonesty, they should be looking at a lot of things, and a lot of people are disappointed in the Justice Department, including me, he said.
In an excerpt of her new book, former DNC chairwoman Donna Brazile wrote about a deal between Clintons 2016 campaign and the DNC aimed at keeping the party financially viable.
The deal wasn't illegal, Brazile wrote, but it "sure looked unethical." The former DNC chair said it broke [her] heart to find proof that the primary between Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) was rigged.
Trump has tweeted several times about the Democratic deal since an excerpt of Braziles book was published by Politico on Thursday, calling it illegal and bringing back his nickname for Clinton, Crooked Hillary.
Trump had lunch with Sessions on Monday. If Sessions were really the problem, Trump would have accepted his resignation a long time ago.

Sessions would have to offer a resignation first....
The only way Judge Moore loses to a democrat in his state is if they rig the voting. Every Christian will be there voting in that state.
The Committee on Foreign Investments has nine members, including the secretaries of the treasury, state, defense, homeland security, commerce and energy; the attorney general; and representatives from two White House offices (the United States Trade Representative and the Office of Science and Technology Policy).
The committee cant actually stop a sale from going through it can only approve a sale. The president is the only one who can stop a sale, if the committee or any one member recommends suspension or prohibition of the transaction, according to guidelines issued by the Treasury Department in December 2008 after the department adopted its final rule a month earlier.
Clinton could have objected as could the eight other voting members but that objection alone wouldnt have stopped the sale of the stake of Uranium One to Rosatom.
Only the President has the authority to suspend or prohibit a covered transaction, the federal guidelines say.
The buck stops at the WH. And if the rumors are correct, the Uranium One investigations were included in the President's daily intel briefing. Obama could have stopped the sale regardless of what CFIS had recommended.
Sessions has not officially recused himself from the Uranium One investigation. DOJ can't confirm or deny such an investigation is underway.
Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said others in the room do not remember Sessions saying anything like that and that the subject was discussed. She would not comment on whether Sessions has recused himself.
Ive talked to people who were in the room and they dont remember him saying anything like this. The subject was discussed so maybe someone misconstrued what he said. I cant comment on recusal issues though because to do so would confirm or deny the existence of an investigation, she said in a statement to Breitbart News.
I hope you’re right. Perhaps many of Trump’s comments and tweets are aimed at Grassley. At some point any reasonable person would capitulate.
Is Grassley reasonable, or is he just less swampish than many?
I agree. He needs to send the message that he is not interfering with the judicial process... even though he appointed Sessions. Regardless, Wheres Waldo needs to be replaced with a take no prisoners bulldog with sharp teeth.
I read years ago that everyone that the president appoints first writes a letter of resignation and hands it to the president. Just in case.
Trump is the President of the United States. Sessions serves at the pleasure of the President. He has already offered his resignation. Congress does not make the final decision.
No, actually you sound like the kid wondering when the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy will make a visit.
I worked in the Federal government for 36 years. The bureaucracy moves slowly and is very difficult to change. The Starr investigation took over 3 years. Anyone who thinks that complex cases like the Clinton Foundation, Uranium One, etc. can be ready for prosecution in a few months is living in a fantasy world. That is not the way our legal system works.
I applaud your efforts to ‘educate’... I have no cause to believe you will change minds... I do not understand what part of DOJ will not ‘confirm or deny investigations’ people cannot understand.
Yes he is. His is the only one doing real digging on U1 and he does not like what he is seeing. The other day he tweeted something like "If there is anyone at DOJ that has the authority to appoint a SP on U1 please do so". He is not happy with DOJ either.
Hmmm? Depends where you read that and who wrote it? I believe you ...but I’d like to see proof if what you read is actually a fact.
You kind of knew in advance who was eventually going to hear.. "You're Fired!"
You are right. I am not going to change minds.
Why not spell out the acronym?
Hopefully Trump is working Grassley’s issues, concerns and reasonableness. If it all comes together, perhaps the DOJ will be under new management soon.
The anti-Sessions mantra is totally based upon mass media and Congressional deception.
What part don’t you understand he runs the Department of Justice, he doesn’t conduct investigations. There are people under him who are active and just because he doesn’t come out tell you what they are doing, doesn’t mean there isn’t something going on.
I don't give a damn about tax reform, his silly wall or his judicial appointments if I can have no faith that justice will be served in the treasonous acts of current and former government officials.
Okay, so then you think Sessions lied to Congress. What a great move that would be. What could go wrong.
Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said others in the room do not remember Sessions saying anything like that and that the subject was discussed. She would not comment on whether Sessions has recused himself.
I already posted a part of the transcript where he said that he is recusing himself.
All I've seen on that are an unnamed source from the Washington Post.
If you have a named source, then please post it.
The informant's lawyer Victoria Teonsing also asked for a Special Prosecutor. The informant apparently knows that Mueller is compromised.
