Brokaw Frets to McCain: Trump ‘Turned the Country Against’ Media

In an interview with Arizona Senator John McCain for Thursday’s NBC Today, Senior Correspondent Tom Brokaw invited the Republican lawmaker to attack President Trump and painted the liberal media as the victim: “In the course of your political career, especially as a presidential candidate – as I learned first hand – you had some mixed relations with the press. The President has no use for the press, he has turned the country against us, in many ways.”

McCain was quick to agree with Brokaw’s whining: “Yeah, I think the role of the press is more important than ever before. I hate the press, okay? But the fact is, without a free press in this country, a pillar of democracy is destroyed.”

Yes, except I don’t think we had much of a voice. We had choice; FNC instead of NBC, but we didn’t have a voice. Donald Trump gave us a voice. Every time he calls one of them out for pushing fake news, I mutter, “Damn right,” under my breath.

The media have never cared about the truth, or who they hurt - as long as they can propagate the illusion (and their own delusion) that they are part of ‘something special’, the educated, the ‘leaders’, the ‘thought leaders’, the self anointed ‘Guardians of the Universe’.

A man with Abe Lincoln's background, from small town midwest who didn't go to Harvard or the equivalent, would be ridiculed by today's media. There’s compilation videos all over YouTube of the media, openly laughing, blatantly mocking, and endlessly attacking the mere idea of a “President Trump.”

Instead of admitting that Donald Trump is being successful in the economy, in the record-breaking stock market that the media couldn’t stop referring to as “tanking” during election night...

Instead of admitting that Donald Trump has done well with world leaders, including assembling Muslim nations to fight terrorism and prevailing upon China to pressure North Korea...

Instead of admitting that they were not only wrong about the polls, but were wrong about Donald Trump as president...

The media blames Donald Trump for the division in our country and the public’s hatred of them.

Well, I would remind Tom Brokaw that it was Barack Obama and the Democrat party that started separating us with “identity” politics, and the public’s disdain for the media has been well documented long before Donald Trump ever came along.
