Nicholas Kristof stepped on a rake last night—and it wasn’t pretty. The New York Times columnist decided to go there on gun control when it was wholly unnecessary to do so. On Tuesday, 29-year-old Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov drove a rented Home Depot pickup truck through a bike path in lower Manhattan and plowed through bystanders and cyclists. Eight people are dead, close to dozen more injured and you’re going to give New York a pat on the back for having strict gun laws. This was possibly in response to Saipov exiting his truck holding fake guns. He was obviously trying to commit suicide by cop, but martyrdom was denied; the NYPD shot him but he’s alive (via CBS News):

If New Yorkers don’t like it, they are the only ones empowered to do anything about it. I’d love to see them pick up pitch forks and torches. Given the way they vote... Schumer, Clinton, Gillabrand, Cuomo, DiBlasio, Bloomberg, ...I had assumed they don’t mind these things from time to time.

Don’t forget; some trucks have accessories that make them more dangerous. Cattle catchers. Big bumpers. Those spooky boat hitches! All of these things can be used to convert a regular car into .... an ASSAULT VEHICLE.

Not necessarily. New York doesn't allow the death penalty, but he may have committed federal offenses as well. FedGov "does" have the death penalty.

Even if the truck was SHAPED like a gun, the Koranimal didn’t use a gun to kill ANYONE!
However, I’m actually glad that this idiot (and I mean that in the traditional, medical definition sense of that word) came out with yet another anti-gun screed. Why? Because it (yet again) shows how stupid the anti-gun side is, further eroding what little credibility that they have. Nonsensical screeds like this actually help us, by making anti-gun legislation less likely to be passed into law. So let the mucking foron keep it up.
