[This is a news brief from an e-mail compilation]:
Information emerging from furtive North Korea indicates that a tunnel at the regimes nuclear test site collapsed last month after a nuclear test, killing about 200 people.
A report from Japanese broadcaster TV Asahi, citing unnamed sources, said 100 people were killed in an initial collapse around Sept. 10, and another 100 died in a rescue operation.
Other reports put the date of the collapse as Oct. 10. No official North Korean announcement was made about the date of the collapse.
North Koreas massive Sept. 3 test caused multiple tremors and landslides in the region, according to Reuters.
Even before news of the tunnel collapse emerged, Western analysts had said the region might be unfit for more nuclear tests.

Wouldn’t the first 100 have been nuclear/rocket scientists and support staff?
Hahaha!
Easy to remember numbers are important. Like 100,000 new police officers on the street. Not 87,592.

Must have been some very important people who got buried first...
Once the excavation of the tunnel and the Zero Room is complete it takes many highly trained technicians and engineers to set up the testing and support equipment to get ready for the installation of the device.
We don't know how far along they were so there could be an outside chance the device was already installed in the Zero Room and they were finalizing things for the shot.
I doubt the Norks have too many really skilled, smart people who are capable of supporting these tests so it would be of extremely high importance to rescue any survivors.
This would be the best time for China to assassinate Kim. They can blame it on Trump and the Democrats will dance their sassy dance of shame.
Sounds like some of outcomes on the old Roadrunner cartoon when Coyote would cook up schemes against Roadrunner . . . Beep! Beep!

Acme jet powered rollerskates. Lol.
How bad is the radiation leak?
200 killed leads me to believe that a large number of people were in the tunnel setting up another test. It is possible that Kim’s nuclear ambitions just ended.
Sounds Biblical. Unless, of course, there is photographic evidence of some guy who looks like Sean Connery leaving the scene after the explosion....
That’s a nice tunnel you have there, it’d be a shame if anything bad happened to it.
Bttt.

Could illegals from Mexico do the jobs that N. Koreans won’t do?
The really big question is was there any nuclear materials release during the collapse? In the winter the prevailing winds over the Korean peninsula are from the North, and in the summer they flow from the Southeast.
The North’s test site is at North Hamgyong, which is due southeast of Changchun, which has a total population of 7,674,439. If it blows more westerly, it could contaminate the city of Shenyang (about 8.1 million), more easterly and it could hit the Russian city of Vladivostok (about 607,000).
Indeed, some of the initial 100 might have been important enough to the nuclear program to risk another 100 in what would almost certainly be a futile attempt at rescue. Maybe some important scientists or engineers.
