Well i can easily see it hurting Trump in the popular vote in 2020 of anybody’s taxes go up. I know that not how we elect presidents but it sure doesn’t look good. Here you are a blue state guy that took a chance on Trump and he broke his promise to lower taxes? I could see a blood bath
Oh well. Beltway syndrome, I guess.
I wonder how many of your and my local fellow citizens don't get to take those deductions because of AMT.
Reagan cut taxes drastically, about the same as Trump’s, and DOUBLED the government’s tax receipts.
This one will have the same effect.
Jack Kemp claimed that decreasing the tax rate to increase government revenue was taught to John Kennedy (who also did it by cutting taxes) by Konrad Adenauer of Germany, who got it from studying Alexander Hamilton, who got it from the book of Genesis (Joseph).
I’m pretty sure the NJ and NY folks voted no so they can say they tried to stop the possible elimination of SALT deduction. What surprises me is, if that were the reason, no CA folks voted no. They usually see who can safely vote no and still pass the bill.
Obviously not enough kick backs and blank checks for the likes of the New Jersey Congress Critters!
Good Lord. Get a grip you effing GRIFTERS!
That’s not the way it works. It passed, and they could vote no and maybe save their positions.
Amnesty was included with this bill. No conservative can support it.
In other words....the usual suspects
Its up to these blue state Republicans to explain that making the rest of us pay for the bad spending habits of those that expect us to pick up their expenses while we do without is not fair or popular out here in the rest of the country.
No more running up bills to get elected and passing the bill on to states where incomes are not bloated like NY, CA, NY, CT, MA.
I agree.
Not going to happen. Theyre surely not going to vote for the Dem.
NO ONE is disclosing the proposed tax rates and brackets, but since my SALT deduction is $17.000.00 I could easily be hit with a $4250.00-$5270.00 federal tax increase.
Some "thanks" for supporting the GOP in a blue state.
Darn. Afraid of Amnesty. I hope voters see the pure destructiveness of any amnesty.
If they were representing the interests of their constituents, it sounds like they were doing their jobs. They are in the house of representatives after all.
I wonder how many Dems also put their constituents first and voted for the best interests of the people in their districts over the interests of Democrat bitter clingers?
I don't disagree with that sentiment, but to the extent these are/were Trump voters, we need to find ways to replace their votes.
One of the key and many times unsung elements of Trump and Deplorables, is that the coalition he put together has the potential to unite heretofore un-united individuals. Minorities of all stripes (blacks, hispanics, gays), union guys, and others used by the statists for decades suddenly seem willing to jump on the Trump Train. While many Patriots may chafe at the thought of working alongside some of these masses, I'd rather have them in my boat than these 20 losers.
Yes, Trump won the Electoral College by a wide margin yet the vote margin of victory in PA, WI, and MI were but a few hundred thousand votes. That's too close for comfort in my book. As Professor LS has been posting, Republican voter registrations are up in many key states. This is a very positive development. However, the disarray on the left is masking movements like New Democracy, a Democrat 'centrist' project that is aiming to (re)convert lapsed Democrats. Sure, they SAY the right things, like:
On immigration, for example, Democrats should stick to their guns in supporting a humane path to legalization. But we also should take seriously public concerns about the breakdown of public order and the impact of low-skill immigrants on native workers jobs and pay.
But THEIR TRUE INTENTION is found right below that paragraph (emphasis added):
Most important, we need to engage voters where they live and refrain from writing any off. Even in the toughest places, rural communities and small towns, Democrats should show up and make our case. Practically speaking, we dont need to convert GOP-leaning voters en mass, just win enough on the margins to tip elections our way.
Therefore, it is vital that we keep up our efforts to bring as many into the fold as possible. This will help not just to offset Democrat advances, but the inevitable falling away of RINOs like these budget haters.
Ken Buck of Colorado has NO excuse. If you look at his district, it is the entire eastern half of Colorado. The desert wasteland all the way to Kansas.
“Peter King talks a big game.”
With a name like that, he should be a bouncer in a gay bar!
Bravo to them. This budget raises taxes on the middle class in order to pay for slashing the corporate rate. The tax cut is now called tax reform because they could not sustain the lie. I wish 2 more Republicans defected and voted No.
My brother in law called his office today, and said he has always been for him,and had no problem with him since his election in central NY,but he told his office that he will never vote for him again.
