Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Fox News Radio host Todd Starnes tied the controversy over President Trump’s call to a Gold Star widow to NFL protests over racial injustice and what Gingrich claimed is the “truly anti-American” nature of much of the left.
In a conversation with Gingrich on his radio program, Starnes called criticism of Trump’s comments to Myeshia Johnson an “ugly attempt by the media to take a swipe at the president.”
“There’s a bloc of people, unfortunately, who hate Trump so deeply that they spend all day every day trying to find some way to smear him or attack him or defame him and it distorts things,” Gingrich replied.
He added that he tells audiences who criticize Trump that they’re getting their information “from reporters and systems that dislike him so deeply they couldn’t tell the truth if their life depended on it.”
“I think this ties right back in to this National Football League debacle with the national anthem, where American values are just under attack, Mr. Speaker,” Starnes said.
Gingrich replied: “Well, they’re absolutely under attack….What Trump has done in part is he’s brought out into the open how truly anti-American much of the left is and how much it stands for a set of values that all of us, if you looked at it carefully, would find horrifying.”

The Left’s hatred of the US was on exhibit in the 60s. It then waned in the 70s-90s. It began the resurgence we’re seeing today during bammy’s regime.
Didn’t need Gingrich to bring that out - most conservative Americans already knew/know that.
Now the Centrists can see it, too.

I think Soros is behind a lot of this as well as his globalist buddies who own the media and we have a TON of morons in this country who are just utterly and completely programmed and controlled by the media. If the media said the sky was green these idiots would run outside, see that it’s blue, then argue with other people that it’s actually green.

The GOPe is as unpatriotic as the left. They support capitalism and liberty only so long as it lines their pockets.
Can you imagine how awesome it would have been if Gingrich was Speaker now, with Trump in the White House? Instead of a sneaky snake Trump would have a partner in getting things done. I had hoped Trump would leverage Newt’s expertise in the House mechanics to get agenda items pushed through, probably wouldn’t have worked with Ryan working overtime to block everything while telling lies on camera about working hard on it but still, maybe it would have.
Conservatives are horrified to see the antics of Obama.
But keep in mind: the left thinks that the USA is too uppity.
That’s why they cheer at Obama’s (and Hillary’s) selling our uranium stores to Russia.
B/c it lessens America’s supremacy in the world.
