President Trump said Saturday morning he will allow the release of the classified files related to former President John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963.
"Subject to the receipt of further information, I will be allowing, as President, the long blocked and classified JFK FILES to be opened," Trump tweeted.
Trump's announcement counters a report that predicted the president was likely going to block the release of some of the documents by the National Archives, which citing pressure from the CIA over possibly harmful national security information being revealed.
Still, White House spokesperson Lindsay Walters told Politico Magazine that the Trump administratioin was trying "to ensure that the maximum amount of data can be released to the public.
The deadline for the National Archives to release the 3,100 documents, primarily from the CIA and FBI, is Oct. 26. The date was established by the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992, which was signed into law by former President George H.W. Bush in an attempt to minimize conspiracy theories about Kennedy's death.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C., led a group of bipartisan lawmakers urging Trump earlier this month to allow full access to the classified documents.
"Transparency in government is critical not only to ensuring accountability; it's also essential to understanding our nation's history," Grassley said in a statement. "The assassination of President Kennedy occurred at a pivotal time for our nation, and nearly 54 years later, we are still learning the details of how our government responded and what it may have known beforehand. Americans deserve a full picture of what happened that fateful day in November 1963. Shining a light on never-before-seen government records is essential to filling in these blank spaces in our history."
Oswald told the guy that drove him to work the long package he had in the back seat was “Curtain Rods”, people in the building saw him with the “Curtain Rod” package. No “Curtain Rods” were ever found. No “Curtain Rods” were missing from his home. The Rifle was in the package. He was a Little Man that wanted to be a Big Man, and that’s it.

Well, as we all know, everybody loves a conspiracy. Many will pour over these documents to find the non-existent conspiracy and if they don’t find it they’ll just say it’s not there because of the conspiracy.
Liberals will find some reason to hate Trump about this.

FYI all - Before speculating about Trump wanting to expose the CIA or other motives, you should realize that the date of Oct 26, 2017 was already in place as the date to release the information.
So Trump is merely responding to this.

Interesting that the YouTube video of Daddy Cruz leafleting with Oswald in New Orleans had been uploaded for public consumption just before DJT declared his candidacy. Wouldn’t it be ironic if this tape had been planted by the Bush camp as insurance for Jeb in the case his primary (R) contender was Cruz.

I get that you hate the Deep State, and I hate it as well, And Bush was probably not a very good president especially with his failed promise of no new taxes, but why must you assume it was responsible for JFK’s assassination? JFK himself was of the Deep State, considering he actually promoted the UN (I believe his exact words were, and I quote, “For in the development of this organization [referring to the United Nations] rests the only true alternative to war.” That’s as deep state as you can get.) If anything, it would have been in the Deep State’s best interests to keep him alive.
And quite frankly, I have my doubts that it was even someone within America who ordered Oswald to do the hit, since there’s a lot of things out of place with that theory (he was found with a historic diary, and he had passports for Cuba and the USSR, and even Khrushchev was confirmed by Pacepa’s boss that he wanted JFK dead, to say little about Castro, and in fact, a lot of Eastern Bloc personnel, including a certain East German Stazi spymaster, were certain that, if it wasn’t Khrushchev who ordered the hit, it was definitely Castro who did). And then we get into how the USSR engaged in a massive disinformation campaign that was suspiciously timed to start right after JFK’s death pinning the blame on right-wing elements of the US Government.
