CNN’s Jake Tapper interviewed a Gold Star Dad Thursday, creating an awkward moment after asking about President Barack Obama calling him after his son’s death at a time when Obama was not president. Tapper, in an interview with Gold Star father Paul Monti, asked about President Obama calling him after his son, Sgt. 1st Class Jared Monti died in Afghanistan.
Tapper asked, “So you received a call from President Obama after Jared was killed, did you find comfort in it? Or is the whole thing just so painful it doesn’t even really matter?”
Monti answered, “Well, first of all, set the record straight, I received a call from President Obama three years later when my son was approved for the Medal of Honor.”
“Oh…great, okay, good point,” Tapper said.
“Yeah. that’s when he called,” Monti said.
“Okay. Well, let me ask you about the fact that he didn’t call you after Jared was killed. Four men were killed on that horrible day in the summer of 2006 on Hill 2610. Did it bother you that you didn’t get a phone call from President Obama? Or actually, it was 2006, it would have been President Bush. Did it bother you…?”
Monti answered, “President Bush.”

yes when her life was ruined and she was at a low Point, Jake stepped up to the plate to push her deeper underwater.
For virtually no material benefit either, it was some kind of principle, I guess.

FreeRepublic should not be involved. Technically, it’s illegal to deface money. Some liberal group would jump at the opportunity to sue FR and then FReep-a-thons would really get combersome. LOL

I don’t believe it is illegal to deface money unless you are doing so in an attempt to defraud the receiver. Can anyone out there quote the applicable statute?
Excellent point, however who's to say that selling a stamp like that is illegal in the first place? Who's to say how that stamp would be used? It's all in the advertising.
Case in point: Is Ford Motor Company held liable/responsible for some dipstick who drinks and drives and then kills someone? Nope.
Unless FR sells that stamp (which I agree, shouldn't be done btw...) with instructions to deface money with it, I don't see how any lieberal group would have a case against FR.
Other than to cause legal troubles and bankrupt FR of course.

Defacement of currency in such a way that it is made unfit for circulation comes under the jurisdiction of the United States Secret Service.
