Joe Scarborough has predicted that Nancy Pelosi is “most likely going to be the next Speaker of the House.” Speaking on today’s Morning Joe, Scarborough’s theory was that the Republican leadership will try to push through a tax reform bill without letting rank-and-file House members participate in the process, and that as a result it will fail, as did the effort to repeal and replace Obamacare.
Could Joe’s prediction come true? Sure. It would require House Dems in the 2018 mid-term elections to increase their numbers by about 24 seats. According to Politifact, “in midterms since 1862, the president’s party has averaged losses of about 32 seats in the House.”
So feasible? Yes. But ironically, the best thing the Republicans will have going for them in stopping Nancy Pelosi from becoming Speaker . . . is Nancy Pelosi herself.

I cannot imagine the worth, even over these RINOs, of a Pelosi-led House. I just can't. Because if you think the GOP isn't getting things done, how could the democrats do better?
The democrats are not "better" than the RINOs. They're both equally hideous. It's a horrible dilemma.

Can we get enough Republicans in Wisconsin to vote for Ryan's primary opponent? The opponent utterly failed in 2016. If not, then we're not doing enough. Chatting on this forum doesn't change things.

I’m a not shill for Scarborough.
To the contrary, my article criticizes Scarborough. I point out that the unpopular Pelosi herself is the best protection against her becoming Speaker.
I also mention if for any reason she did become Speaker, it would be a political boon to Trump, using her to run against in 2020.
The schmo is typically not unique in his analysis of current events. He deserves way less exposure than he gets here. Few others receive daily attention.
They’d have to recruit an awful lot of non-whackjob candidates to run in those red districts. I don’t think their base will let them do that.

Fewer than half my posts at FinkelBlog have been about Morning Joe.
The only way Nancy becomes Speaker is if the “My Way or the Highway” Republican voters stay home to ‘teach leadership a lesson.’ And that is not too far out to consider.
I hope some can of those “leaders’ can be primaried, but if not, that these voters look at the far bigger picture. It’s not just Nancy as Speaker ... look at who the committee chairs would be. Even more frightening.
