Neat pic - looks like west Texas and reminded me of James McMurtry's
"Levelland"

Publius...good evening. Have you had a week where everything has gone right?
I hope you are all settled in and the new job is what you thought it would be, and the weather is nice.
Thanks for the tune.

My Mom was born in Hollywood, and we spent all my school years in a home on Woodruff in Lakewood. Do you recall Dutch Village? It was a shopping mall in Lakewood on Woodruff that looked like a Dutch village--a tribute to the Dutch dairy farmers who settled the area. From the mid-1950s into the '60s, we liked to go there to shop at Fedco, a forerunner of big box membership stores like Costco and Sam's Club. Dutch Village was razed sometime in the 1980s.

Well, Levelland looks pretty much like that, as dones this part of West Texas southwest of there where I live. :)

Yes, one and the same.
We lived at the opposite end of town though: Paramount and Del Amo. Woodruff is about 3 miles from where we lived.

I sure do remember Dutch Village....we lived on the single block between Mayfair High School and South St, and Dutch Village. I graduated from Mayfair in 1966. And I was many times at Fedco. I went to the neighborhood grammar school when it first opened, and then Roosevelt Junior High...long ago. LOL!

I’m trying to pull up memories of going that direction. Paramount might have been where the ARCO offices were...I had my first real paying job working in the Credit Union there.
