My Mom was born in Hollywood, and we spent all my school years in a home on Woodruff in Lakewood.

Do you recall Dutch Village? It was a shopping mall in Lakewood on Woodruff that looked like a Dutch village--a tribute to the Dutch dairy farmers who settled the area. From the mid-1950s into the '60s, we liked to go there to shop at Fedco, a forerunner of big box membership stores like Costco and Sam's Club. Dutch Village was razed sometime in the 1980s.

I sure do remember Dutch Village....we lived on the single block between Mayfair High School and South St, and Dutch Village. I graduated from Mayfair in 1966. And I was many times at Fedco. I went to the neighborhood grammar school when it first opened, and then Roosevelt Junior High...long ago. LOL!
