Free Speech For People, a non-profit progressive organization, sent an open letter to Supreme Court Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. on Thursday, asking him to reprimand Supreme Court Justice Neil M. Gorsuch for giving a speech at the Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C. last month, saying it violated the Code of Conduct for U.S. Judges.

“Free Speech For People”
They have to change the name to “Free Speech for Liberals and throw conservatives in jail.”
By who?
A supreme court judge should be heard.
Why would he need to be punished?
He wasn’t making money off it, or offering to take a position in exchange...
Gorsuch should just argue that for the purposes of the ethics rules, it wasn’t a speech. For the purposes of the audience, it was a speech. Roberts understands that sort of logic.
They sure are, thanks!
Well said...It’s nothing that all Justices have done and should do.
There is no provision for the Chief Justice to reprimand one of associates. I suppose that he could if he decided to but that associate justice could just as easily turn around and reprimand the CJ.
Nothing happens.
If you want to lay the wood to a SCJ, you have one path. Impeach them.
Speaking at a facility partially owned by the president probably wont get that one done.
have = haven’t done
Not liberals, Marxists. Here’s one example:
Steve Cobble is the Senior Political Advisor for Free Speech For People. Mr Cobble is also an Assistant Fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS). Mr. Cobble is a longtime activist on both voting and campaign finance reform issues. He is a co-founder of AfterDowningStreet.org and Progressive Democrats of America, and has written for The Nation, HuffingtonPost, TomPaine.com, The Progressive, and many other magazines and newspapers. Mr. Cobble is a former Political Director and speechwriter for the National Rainbow Coalition, served as the National Delegate Coordinator for Jackson for President 88, and directed the Keep Hope Alive PAC. He has worked on electoral campaigns at every level from state legislature to mayor to Congress to Senate, and has had a serious role in seven presidential campaigns, from McGovern to Kucinich. Mr. Cobble once directed the Arca Foundation, served as a Fellow at Harvards Institute of Politics, and conducted election training workshops for the African National Congress in South Africa in 1991.
I vote for the same punishment he gave RBG when she interjected herself in the election
Let me guess, free speech for people believes in taxing people’s speech to be their opinion maker!
Isnt it what antifa advocates accross the board?
No word on censoring that btch at the Supreme court openly opposing Trump? ha! Bull sht! You cannot ask to censor one and not the other and invoke consciousness when it is partisanship you seek.
Is he going to take away his Supreme Court private gym membership ? Make him pay for his own haircuts ? What.
Right on. The only punishment for a SCOTUS Justice is impeachment that I know of.
The FSFP sucks wind.
What can he do other than not assign him any opinions to write?
Justices can be encouraged, but not forced, to recuse themselves - unless the PR gets so bad they have to resign (Abe Fortas).
“Seems Free Speech For People only believe in free speech for themselves.”
I kind of agree if there is a case at hand before him. but honestly this rule seems only to apply to republican appointiees.
The reality is as the Federal employees have proven time and time again, the U.S. ‘supreme court’ is nothing more than a lawless group of dictators deciding innocence or guilt upon an ideological not legal basis.
There is as the other 2 branches has conceded over the last 100 years nothing to stop the 3rd branch and hold them to the Constitution. They have made themselves above the law in every practical sence by proclaiming themselves to have the first and last word on the Constitution on a case by case basis.
Even their supposed reliance upon cases being brought before them is a face in an ideologically diverse country of 300 million people.
