Since the outbreak, San Diego's Health and Human Service Agency and local health administrators have given about 68,500 vaccinations, including nearly 54,000 to at-risk populations.
Also Tuesday, the San Diego Board of Supervisors voted to extend the county's emergency health declaration over the outbreak, which will need to be reviewed and voted on every 14 days.
Mayor Kevin Faulconer announced Tuesday more than 600 tons have trash has been cleared from San Diego streets, sidewalks, and riverbeds over the past six months as part of citywide cleanup efforts.

Is it just me (and I forgot) or was it the case that back in the 70’s we had mass incidents of dengue fever, West Nile virus, chikungunya, encephalitis and yellow fever?
To: who_would_fardels_bear
We did not have that in the 70’s, this all came in with the dreamers and “immigrants”.

People don’t get hepatitis A from a presence of homeless people, trash or even dung in the streets. People most often get hepatitis A from eating food that is handled by infected people who don’t wash their hands after defecating and wiping.

Proof that our nation spearheaded by California is turning into a third world nation. Just like Obama and Soros wanted.
Poor and disease ridden side by side with fabulously wealthy.
Diminishing Middle class.

In the early 60's I lived in Astoria NY when a sudden outbreak of hepatitis broke out.
For months there were numerous articles in the paper from doctors trying to determine how several hundred people in a small area of northern Queens could suddenly contract the same disease in apparently the same time frame. Considering the infected population (teenagers & young adults in their 20's, mostly male) I'm surprised it took them so long to figure out.
In the late 50's drinking cough medicine laced with codeine was all the rage with teenagers nationwide.
After a few years astute politicians caught on to what was happening and decided to make this type of cough syrup illegal, unless bought by prescription. But unfortunately many teenagers & young adults really liked the high from codeine and when they found it nearly impossible to obtain legally, switched to the next best thing, heroin.
Thus began a huge epidemic of heroin use that never really abated.
As every junkie knows one of the pitfalls of using heroin & sharing needles is hepatitis. So the mystery of the huge hepatitis outbreak (along with numerous dead heroin users killed by overdoses) was discovered. If I recall correctly, doctors even managed to track down the original hepatitis carrier although by that time, it no longer mattered much to anyone.
