NAPA (CBS SF) Wind-whipped wildfires roared to life Sunday night and early Monday across Wine Country, burning building, forcing evacuations and injuring several people.
The Atlas Peak fire was the largest of several wildfires, quickly growing to more than 200 acres near Napa. Meanwhile, the fire near Calistoga had burned several building and sent several people to the hospital to be treated for burns.
Cal Fire said firefighters were battling several blazes in Sonoma County. The largest was in the area of Porter Creek Road and Petrified Forest Road near Calistoga where mandatory evacuations were ordered for residents along Porter Creek, Petrified Forest, Franz Valley and Mountain Home Ranch Rd.
Early Monday morning, the Sonoma County Sheriffs Department said fires had erupted at Mark West Springs and Riebli roads in Santa Rosa, at Shiloh and Conde roads in Windsor and at Highway 116 and Fredericks Road in Sebastopol.
The fires had stretched Sonoma and Napa counties firefighting resources to the breaking point. A call for mutual aid was issued to other Bay Area fire departments.

“These fires come after the wettest winter in Norcal in the last 100 years.”
Coniferous trees burn even when wet.
The problem is deeper than simple disagreement or dislike, and the moderators have been removing posts that poorly represent this forum.
For example, they’ve been removing posts, including in this thread, that proclaim the poster’s lack of sympathy for
Texans affected by Hurricane Harvey
shooting victims who may have supported President Trump
Californians affected by these deadly wildfires. If any readers really don’t understand why the moderators remove such posts, ask your mother.
Excellent!!! Thank you.
Its been going on forever newbie, and youve been here long enough where ya should understand that. I dont like it either, but its the way it is.
I respectfully disagree. I’ve been here a little while. And, you’re right.. there’s PLENTY of ‘California Bashing’. I might even have done a little of it myself. :-)
But, this is a life threatening situation affecting fellow Americans. There comes a time when DECENT people put politics aside, and care about their fellow man. There were Californians praying for the people of Houston during the floods... and, THIS Texan will pray for the people of California in this time of peril.
There is a time to spit at California... This, is not that time. Unless, of course... it’s on an ember.
Wow, another excellent post...

Are you a professional writer? If not, should consider it.
I too am praying...10 have died :( plus there are burn victims and looting...
The water really kicked up the growth in some areas.
The real cause of these fires is people building hundreds of thousands of houses in areas that have ALWAYS burned every few years, as far back as we have records. The Mexicans who lived here hundreds of years ago were smarter than some of these politicians, developers, and yuppies- they built houses out of MUD with tile roofs because is always burns here. It rains in Florida, you get hurricanes in Texas, you get fires in California. You get something everywhere, if not it would be so overcrowded from everyone wanting to live there ....

The first article that popped up was ABC, and I didn’t want to give them hits.
No... I’m no professional. But, I do get filled with the spirit on rare occasions.
In the past nearly 20 years, I think I have “reported abuse” two times... and, I’ve read some pretty repugnant stuff. Today was the third time.
We’re BETTER than that around here... well, most of the time. ;-)

God help you.
I know. But the same thing was done in past earthquakes etc.. I remember all too well. Same with riots, widespread or threatening diseases, dams ready to burst etc. I read it all.
I remember it when I was the *only* person on threads standing or defending CA. Of course that was before the mentally ill and leftist completely took full control of the state.
I had a person once who told me CA was the cause of every evil in the U.S. >>No joke.

I can’t even imagine it! What an awful weather/natural disaster year 2017 has been.
This makes my heart hurt so much! Fire is just the worst. In a flood, you can at least float!

Devastating!
Haven’t seen anything like that sine the Bel Air fire of 1961 where nearly 500 homes were destroyed.

Agreed! I am praying too. What a year :( Listening to the newsfeed on youtube...It reminds me of blizzard closings—but this is worse than a blizzard I think :(
When I look at these pictures, it reminds me of some dismal post apocalyptic movie :(
