Knowingly exposing others to HIV will no longer be a felony in California

Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill Friday that lowers from a felony to a misdemeanor the crime of knowingly exposing a sexual partner to HIV without disclosing the infection.

The measure also applies to those who give blood without telling the blood bank that they are HIV-positive.

...

Supporters of the bill said women engaging in prostitution are disproportionately targeted with criminal charges, even in cases where the infection is not transmitted.

Republican lawmakers including Sen. Joel Anderson of Alpine voted against the bill, arguing it puts the public at risk.

“I’m of the mind that if you purposefully inflict another with a disease that alters their lifestyle the rest of their life, puts them on a regimen of medications to maintain any kind of normalcy, it should be a felony,”

Now hear this.....starting as of today, all California residents, legal and illegal will not be allowed to leave California without being subject to immigration and customs checkpoints into Arizona, Nevada and Oregon passport/visa and a health certificate. Illegals cannot leave the state/country of California with out being processed as they would have to do in any other foreign country...highways, railway, airplanes or hot air balloons.

Call your elected today to make this law....CA is housing illegals with Hepatitis A, measles and whooping cough and who knows what else and requited by law to be inoculated before schools will take a child.........Good luck Moonbeam.

California is working hard to legalize murder. Must be one of their “population control” ideas.

If they manage to infect a growing percentage of the people with HIV, does this mean it increases the pressure to allow people with HIV to become blood donors? Or does it normalize HIV?

I remember back in the late 70s-early 80s, when they had just started calling it AIDS (it was GRID before that, Gay Related Immune Deficiency) a radio interview with a homosexual who said that they were going to give blood as often as possible. Until it became common among straights, he reasoned, very little funding would be allocated to its study. Follow the money!

We’re making such amazing progress out here in CA, somehow, the term “progressive” seems to be consistently falling short.

A suggestion for us, an adjective that goes beyond progressive: Hasty.

This is a joke right? Free health care for illegals, sanctuary state and now they can spread AIDs. Freeps in Cali, how are these absolute psychopaths like Brown getting elected into office? Election fraud? This is the government directly putting your life at risk time and time again.

A similar situation has developed in Washington state, or possibly just in Seattle and King County.

After a number of protests and “Act Up” incidents by sexuality-related political groups, the local blood banks have relaxed their donation standards, and gay men and various other groups are no longer permanently banned, as long as they remain free of HIV, Hepatitis, and the more common STDs.

Before this happened, I was already concerned about some of the less-than-sterile procedures used by the phlebotomists at my local blood bank.

But after they gave a free pass to potentially dangerous donors, I said “adios,” and permanently ended my 50+ year record of blood donations.

Since I have rare blood factors, they still send me emails every week urging me to come back in, which I ignore.

Hopefully, for my own elderly health, they will perfect artificial blood within the next ten years.

I remember that argument. Biggest reason for significant punishment I can imagine. And compare it to the laws for spreading TB.

Sounds like something done as a pure payoff to the gay mafia. More of an attempt to normalize the most radical behavior. Which as we’ve seen reported before, includes gays who want to be infected with HIV as some kind of fetish or self-loathing exercise.

I am only going to imagine that they will amp up punishment for you exposing someone with HIV to diseases like TB.

I was hospitalized in San Bernardino, which is a story in itself, when they had their first AIDS case ever. Everyone was terrified as the path to contagion was not known.

And now California embraces it. AIDS is bad enough, but having one’s government unmoored from reality is a nightmare.

I have definitely seen it reported as a big gay lobby issue that they do not want to be “discriminated” against as blood donors. They don’t want any questions about HIV or sexual activity or preference asked.

Re: More seriously, laws have minimal effect on behavior, unless strictly enforced.

That's a very good point.

Someone needs to explain that to all the immigration doves at Free Republic who support the DACA Amnesty if it comes with “mandates” for the Wall, E-Verify, and other laws that will never be enforced.

Once the Wall is built, we will be paying 100,000 new border guards to sit there and watch Mexicans climb over it!

My godson died of AIDS in SF in 1984——after a transfusion given after an accident. It was a VERY chaotic, frightening time.

California is truly going insane.

The insanity coming out of Cali used to be funny. Now it's madness and dangerous. I can't believe anyone with the ability to flee Cali has not already left.
