Yet I’ve read commentary on Justice Thomas praising him for writing many of the clearest and most constitutionally cogent opinions coming out of the SCUS.

Buzzie had been an embarrassment to the Court since her first day there.
Just the point I was going to make. Which means conservatives should tell liberals to F off, as they will always find fault in our actions, no matter what they are, while ignoring how nonsensical their notions are, as proven time and time again by how they have failed when tried.
His dissent to Gonzales v Raich, aka The Commerce Clause decision, is devastating to the majority opinion. Which means nothing, but felt good.
