Washington (CNN)Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigators met this past summer with the former British spy whose dossier on alleged Russian efforts to aid the Trump campaign spawned months of investigations that have hobbled the Trump administration, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Information from Christopher Steele, a former MI-6 officer, could help investigators determine whether contacts between people associated with the Trump campaign and suspected Russian operatives broke any laws. CNN has learned that the FBI and the US intelligence community last year took the Steele dossier more seriously than the agencies have publicly acknowledged. James Clapper, then the director of national intelligence, said in a January 2017 statement that the intelligence community had "not made any judgment that the information in this document is reliable."
The intelligence agencies, particularly the CIA, and the FBI took Steele's research seriously enough that they kept it out of a publicly-released January report on Russian meddling in the election in order to not divulge which parts of the dossier they had corroborated and how.

And yet. Nothing.
Last I knew, Steele has met with no one from the Mueller investigation.
The dossier is crap. Everyone knows it, and have known for over a year.
Is there an accounting anywhere as to how much this bs is costing us? There are more then enough issues to get riled up over but my Lord, to know money is being wasted on this garbage, it’s infuriating!
So he met with a guy who posted fan fiction on 4chan? Seriously????
And of course they plan on meeting with Assange, who says he has proof of no Russian collusion, at least on the email part.
Next they are going to meet with the creator of Spider Man.
This is a lawyer glutton fest for connected lefty Dem lawyers. Effing parasites of society. Does anyone have a can of lawyer RAID.
Since the PeePee Dossier is the only shred of evidence they have what did they find out from the author?
Mueller? Mueller? Anybody?
I think they should do a clawback of all the wages paid the platoon of fired Obama DOJ lawyers. They were hired to keep them off the unemployment lines and go after Trump. After nine months they haven’t come up with sh!t. Charge them with fraud and clawback any money paid to them.
No, they left it out because it was too absurd for even the stupid Dems to swallow.
Was this the McCain dossier with the peeing hookers?
It remains doubly laughable because they do. It’s like Our Man In Havana by Graham Greene, meets The Gang Who Couldn’t Shoot Straight, screenplay by Jimmy Breslin.
And yet the Senate Intelligence Committee can’t seem to get a meeting with him. I guess it is easier since the FBI likely paid him for the dossier.
Trump and his people ignore the plot being run by Mueller at their peril. Mueller with his pet DC Grand Jury will be able to construct whatever evidence he wants and get indictments. There really must be some way to neutralize Mueller, maybe another Special Investigator to investigate Mueller, but that would require cooperation from Jeff Sessions. Never the less, Mueller will be the slow death of the Administration and Trump IMO, unless he is exposed and stopped in some manner.
Isn’t that the truth.
This guy reminds me of a Justice Department John Kerry stand-in.
Mr Steele is currently involved in a civil lawsuit in London against 3 plaintiffs for defamation.
Exactly! They kept it from the public so they wouldn’t become bigger laughing stocks than they already are.
Yes.
