On Sunday, a shooter opened fire from the 32nd floor of a hotel in Las Vegas on a country music festival below, killing at least 59 and injuring hundreds. Of those shot and hospitalized was Thomas Gunderson.
Then, on Wednesday, President Donald Trump and Melania flew to Las Vegas to meet with victims and came across Gunderson in the hospital. The next moment that was captured and posted on Facebook is something he will likely always remember.
As the president and first lady entered his room, Gunderson stood up, despite being shot in the leg to greet the two with the upmost respect.
Watch:
The caption of the video that Gunderson posted on Facebook read:
I will never lie down when the President of this great country comes to shake my hand! There may be plenty of issues in this country but I will always respect my country, my president and my flag. Shot in the leg or not, I will stand to show my President the respect he deserves!
Powerful.

Semper Fi, Mr. Thomas Gunderson!
Thanks. I don’t do Facebook.
“Thanks. I dont do Facebook.”
Me neither.
Well, that backfired on the NFL
“If the duly elected President of the United States wanted to shake my hand, I would stand”
I would, too, but the President would have to be duly elected; Hussein wasn’t. “Duly” definition: “in accordance with what is required or appropriate; following proper procedure or arrangement”. He’s not an NBC, so there’s nothing “duly” about it.
The first thing I noticed is that President Trump got an update on his condition before he entered the hospital room. That’s an impressive bit of class there, folks.
Thank you. I have always considered Hussain an illegitimate President and an enemy of te United States. I wouldn’t shake his hand, but I would stand to walk out of any room he entered.
LOL!
Wow! This guy is a mensch.
Agreed.
My Dad disliked Jimmy Carter strongly, when Carter was in office. Then one day, my Dad was @ a conference waiting at a hotel elevator. To his surprise, when the door opened, out popped the 1st Lady and two SS guards. Mrs. Carter was literally 2 ft. away, said my Dad, so he stuck his hand out and blurted “Hi, I’m (his name)”. She put her hand out as well, and they shook hands. He recalled later: “She is prettier in person than on TV.”
Of course, if that happened today, with a 1st Lady, one of the SS guys might have broken my Dad’s arm!
God bless this man
Me neither, but you can still go to the link and play the vid.

I’d never disrespect the president...never. No matter who held the office.

"I'm doing OK, Mr. President -- but the doctor did say that my recovery would be helped greatly if Melania stayed behind and read me bedtime stories." LOL.
I think President Trump has already found people in Las Vegas, Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and now Las Vegas who can replace every sports team and celebrity that would have been invited to the White House in previous unnamed administrations. Let the NBA visit the mayor of San Juan.
Maybe like this...
hahaha!
.
Outstanding respect for our President!!!! This is a Man, not a Snowflake!!
NFL, stand tall for our flag.
I remember Jimmy Carter dressing down...and all of the others after him took the casual look. Donald J. Trump ALWAYS appears that he is on the job. We honor people by the way we dress to receive them. I would be honored to see someone like him dressed in a neat suit.. Looks like he is ready to sign a contract and buy a golf course. No loser here.
