On Sunday, a shooter opened fire from the 32nd floor of a hotel in Las Vegas on a country music festival below, killing at least 59 and injuring hundreds. Of those shot and hospitalized was Thomas Gunderson.
Then, on Wednesday, President Donald Trump and Melania flew to Las Vegas to meet with victims and came across Gunderson in the hospital. The next moment that was captured and posted on Facebook is something he will likely always remember.
As the president and first lady entered his room, Gunderson stood up, despite being shot in the leg to greet the two with the upmost respect.
Watch:
The caption of the video that Gunderson posted on Facebook read:
I will never lie down when the President of this great country comes to shake my hand! There may be plenty of issues in this country but I will always respect my country, my president and my flag. Shot in the leg or not, I will stand to show my President the respect he deserves!
Powerful.

“People Are Disgusted at NFL Players Kneeling Day After 59 People Killed in Las Vegas Shooting”
Thank you for posting! Excellent young man.
I bet people wouldn’t being saying that if zero walked in...
What a wonderful young man. May he make a speedy recovery.
If Melania walks in when I am dead I’m gonna get up.
I’m dead, but I’m not dead-dead!
bkmk
What a Great American!
So that was him in the pink shirt and pussy hat at the anti-Trump rally!!!! Great find, thank you!
Stop lowering yourself to the other side's level. If the duly elected President of the United States wanted to shake my hand, I would stand as well, whether it was Ronald Reagan or Hillary Clinton. You may not respect the office holder, but you should respect the office.
Isn't this part of the reason that the NFL's crowds, live and on TV, are tanking this year?
I agree...but many wouldn’t.
I was raised to respect the office not the person.
Good catch. Helps to explain the photo of the perp in a pink pussy hat and t-shirt with the NASA logo.
I can’t find a video on the web page.
Do you have a direct link to the video?
Take a look here, Michael Bennett
